It is machined for aircraft grade, bar-stock aluminum, with an offset-gear Rulon disc drag. Orvis puts the recommended line sizes for the reel in the 3 to 5 wt. range. The listed capacity is 100 yds. of 20 lb. dacron with a WF3F line, and 75 yds. with a WF4F. The reel is in very nice shape. There are finish rubs on the reel foot from being on a rod. The frame and spool have no scratches. Except for a"4" the previous owner etched onto the interior side of the spool. The reel has some backing and a WF-4-F fly line, which, from the partial sticker and sunrise color, I believe to be a Scientific Anglers Ultra 4 line. It's an older model line, but still looks decent to me. The reel is set up for left hand retrieve, and is reversible to right hand wind. With the reel comes a zippered Orvis pouch in excellent shape. It's in great condition. No scratches or chips and comes with the original Sage tube sock and rod tube. Front and back the reel looks great and is loaded with Scientific Anglers' Ultra3 WF-5-F line. The spool edge has some light wear and it sounds real sweet! This is Sage's older Light Line Series. It has a lovely. Unhurried and slower action reminiscent of cane rods. This is an Orvis travel package that includes a Orvis Vortex reel and a 4pc 9 wt Trident rod. Includes a soft/hard card for carrying the combo with you to your destination. I purchased this for a bonefish trip to Belize a few years a go and have used it a handful of times fishing for wipers in our local lakes. Due to my failing eyesight. The rod is an Orvis impregnated bamboo. 6 1/2' 2 3/4 oz three piece with two tips, all sections have matching serial numbers are straight and they fit together tightly. The spinning reel is an Orvis 50A in great working order, the bail works the drag is functional and it comes with a spare spool, made in Italy. The fly reel is an Orvis Batenkill, click and pawl original made in England. These are not the reels that came with the rod. However, these are the same model of reels that would have been included in this set from Orvis. The box is mahogony tightly fitted with movable sections for other gear. Mike had bought these from a collector and personally inspected them before selling them. Since I bought all three he gave me a great deal at $500 each. I then spent a couple hundred more on reels. This package will also include another custom built fly rod that has been barely used. I do not know what the custom blank is. G. Loomis / Orvis 10wt fly rod combo
Rod is a G. Loomis Xperience 9ft 10wt 4pc with original hard rod-tube and rod sock. The reel is an Orvis Battenkill Large Arbor V(later model with drag knob in center) and a spare spool. One spool has Rio saltwater fast-sink 10wt line and the other has Rio saltwater intermediate 10wt line. Original Orvis boxes and soft cases included with the reel and spool. All in excellent condition! Used less than 10 times. Rinsed with fresh water and dried after each use. Reel got a touch of Shimano reel oil on the spool shaft after each trip.
