I promised the original owner I would put a fish on it, and I did (small Maine brookie). Other than that it had about three uses and was cast maybe a few dozen times. It has a downward locking reel seat. The ferule is still very tight fitting and the rod casts beautifully. I paired it with this lightweight reel and the line is also from Cortland, the 444 Classic 6wt. I’ve included a classic Orvis reel case as well. Offered for bid is a used Shakespeare FY 12-R. 8'0" fiberglass fly rod for#7/8 line, and a Shakespeare Omni 33 reel. The reel has a"Made in China" sticker on the foot, and the rod has a worn sticker on the butt, that, I think, says"Made in Korea" Other than signs of normal usage, the only damage I can see is at the larger/bottom end of the center rod section has had about 1/2" cut off, and no longer has a rubber plug in the end, see 3rd photo) The overall length is now 95 1/2" All the guides are straight and tight, as is the tip and the hook keeper. The lower most guide has a ceramic insert. The fiberglass rod is chocolate brown in color, with a slightly darker banding used for the guides, with white painted trim. The Shakespeare lettering, etc. is gold. The reel shows moderate corrosion- cosmetic only- ... moreworks great. Drag adjustment operates easily and smoothly. No line is included. There is a small lever on the left side of the"Shakespeare Omni" name-plate(best seen in photo#8) that I have no idea what it does. For auction is one very hard to find fly rod. A Sage SPL 080-3 in mint condition. Included is a White River aluminum high quality ultra light reel, super light weight so it balances well with the rod. Also included is a 0 WT DT floating fly line. Email me with any questions. There are a couple of scratches on the rod tube from moving, but the rod, reel seat, guides, ferrule, finish, etc are in flawless condition. I bought this rod new in 2007, when I lived in the NC mountains. I used it once that spring, then moved away from the mountains that summer. Since then, I have been fishing tailwaters almost exclusively, and just haven't been fishing the best water to use this amazingly light weight and delicate rod. The rod is 0 weight, with a cork reel seat, very unique for this rod, very reliable, simple, and attractive. The rod is an 8 foot ... morelong, 3 piece rod. Includes rod tube and sock. I paid $459 for the rod in 2007, and it has since been discontinued. The reel is a White River Classic Ultra Light Fly Reel. This reel retails for $99, and features a simple and weight saving click-and-pawl drag mechanism. The reel balances the rod very well. This is a high quality reel, as good as most Battenkills. Finally, the line is a double taper 0 wt floating line, in a very light green. I can't remember the manufacturer, but it was a quality line. they don't make cheap 0 weight lines, and never have. Fin Nor No. 3 fly reel and peen international fly rod reel combo
Very nice Fin-Nor No. 3 reel with a Penn International 1090 SPT 9 foot rod for#10 line. Reel has minor scratches and 1 small nick as seen in photos but is fully functional and very smooth. Reel has anti-reverse. Rod is in great shape with minor pitting on rod tip eye as seen in photo no pitting on other eyes and all area in contact with line are fine. Reel has backing on it. No fly line. Rod handle is cork and in great shape. Very nice balance. Very smooth drag. Rod case zipper is sticky but works. I have caught yellow fin tuna and red fish on this, drag is perfect. It is great for salt or fresh water from trout to tarpon and sail fish. This is a top notch rig! I will ship next day after payment. Good luck bidding and fishing.
