Shakespeare FY 12R 8'0"/#7/8 Line Fly Rod and Omni 33 Reel Combo
Offered for bid is a used Shakespeare FY 12-R. 8'0" fiberglass fly rod for#7/8 line, and a Shakespeare Omni 33 reel. The reel has a"Made in China" sticker on the foot, and the rod has a worn sticker on the butt, that, I think, says"Made in Korea" Other than signs of normal usage, the only damage I can see is at the larger/bottom end of the center rod section has had about 1/2" cut off, and no longer has a rubber plug in the end, see 3rd photo) The overall length is now 95 1/2" All the guides are straight and tight, as is the tip and the hook keeper. The lower most guide has a ceramic insert. The fiberglass rod is chocolate brown in color, with a slightly darker banding used for the guides, with white painted trim. The Shakespeare lettering, etc. is gold. The reel shows moderate corrosion- cosmetic only- ... moreworks great. Drag adjustment operates easily and smoothly. No line is included. There is a small lever on the left side of the"Shakespeare Omni" name-plate(best seen in photo#8) that I have no idea what it does. Custom Dan Craft Ultra Light 0-weight Fly Rod w/ JA Forbes Reel & Sage Line zero
I hate to do this but I am selling my beloved 0-weight fly rod. The rod is a custom made rod built on a 6 piece Dan Craft Signature IV blank. The rod comes in at 7’6” and the full rod weights less than 2 ounces by itself. The reel is a J. A. Forbes Magnesium fly reel that comes in at 2.2 ounces. The reel is spooled with backing and half of a Sage double taper 0-weight fly line. Only half of the line is spooled to shave off weight and because you will not need to cast this rod over 40’ as it is. This rod is extremely soft. A nice bluegill or small bass bend this rod almost to the handle. The softness of the rod will help protect those delicate tippets. I am selling this rod to make room for new toys and because I rarely fish it. If I had a nice small trout stream at my disposal. I would wear this rod out making the softest of soft dry fly ... morepresentations known to man. It is a pleasure to fish and I may end up kicking myself in a few years for selling this set-up. The handle is very tastefully done with contrasting cork rings and the rod and reel both show little signs of use. The package includes the rod. Reel, backing, fly line, reel case, and rod/reel case. I gather from my research that Scientific Anglers now sells mostly fly lines and reels. But there was a time(I don't know how long ago) when they sold really good graphite fly rods. I'm guessing that what I'm listing was sold as a package including the rod. Reel, line and leader. The fly attached is a flashy steelhead fly from my stash. The 2-section rod is 8'6" The reel is marked Scientific Anglers but does not have a model number. The rod is marked Line Weight# 5/6. From my past fly fishing experience. I'd guess that this would be a nice combo to use. I should have tried it out on the lawn, but didn't think of it at the right time. Now, as I write this, it's frosty out. Included in this auction is a new 908-4 Hobbs Creek fly rod. A new HCIII fly reel with light cosmetic wear, and a new 8 wt. fly line fished once. All items are White River brand. I bought this 8 weight fly rod outfit from Bass Pro Shop new about a year ago planning to use it for steelhead fishing. I fished it one time for bass and never picked it up again. I've carried the reel around in my trunk for a period and accumulated light wear from not keeping it in a sleeve. The rod is still brand new and the line has only seen water once. Rod is a 2 piece, 8 foot(8’ Dark Graphite Gray Color Blank with black and green accents. It is in excellent condition– cork handle shows a little color wear from use,no Damage to the Rod Blank,Guides,or Handle; it is all original. This is a very nice rod for a fraction of the price of the big named fly rod makers. This is a medium/light Action. Great weight for Stream.Pond, and River fishing. Reel is of Quality,made in England; Rim Control, Adjustable tension Drag, Left or right hand retrieve with a large capacity for 5/6 Line.
