Vintage Orvis Clearwater Classic III Streamline Orvis JR Guide 795-4 Mid 7'9"
This is a quick listing for a Vintage Orvis Clearwater Classic III. It is in extremely good condition, almost NOS. This also came from the same Estate as the Battenkill Mid Arbor IV I also have listed. This is a very nice Rod/Reel combo that is fully functioning and appears to have been never used. The reel is loaded with line and the 4 piece rod is in great condition. Everything seems to work. I don't know how tight the drag should be but it does function. I have seen this listed as a Youth rod and reel combo. I don't know what the difference is between this and an Ultra-light outfit. I have in my vehicle trunk a Daiwa Mini-Cast Combo system that I bought in the mid 1970's. I carry it because it is small/compact and self-contained. I can't tell you how many time I stopped road-side when I discovered a new stream or pond and ... moreluckily I had the small outfit. I wasn't prepared or intending to fish but the opportunity presented itself and fortunately I was prepared with that Ultra-light. I bought this at an Estate sale literally a stones throw from the Battenkill on the NY/VT border. So I'm confident they were fishing Trout. This comes with a nice Case with clear plastic window overall length is 27.5" with a nice handle and hanging loop. You won't even notice it in your trunk. St. Croix Imperial Fly Fishing Rod 9' 5 wt and Orvis Clearwater Classic Reel
I bought this rod and then got a job as an Orvis endorsed guide and had to fish only Orvis rods. So this St. Croix was used as a backup maybe two or three times. The rod is in near-mint condtion. The case is a little road weary as it's traveled a lot. The reel has seen some use, but is a sold reel with a 5 wt double taper line that still has a lot of life in it. Everything you need to go fishing but the flies! I need a saltwater rod, so my loss is your gain!
