The red colored reel is a Martin# 81 Automatic Mohawk reel, that is mounted on a Martin"Tuffy" rod.The rod is around 9' long, and the recoil on the reel does work very well. The trigger on the reel needs cleaned up, it is kinda rusty looking, but works well and looks as though it will clean up. The green reel is a"Mohawk-Horrocks-Ibbotson" Co, Utica-NY#1106. 9 foot Cortland fly rod with a Okuma Integrity 1 7/8 reel and mountain cork case
Cortland all graphite GRF-1000. This rod is as smooth and accurate as ANY rod I have ever had my hands on. It is a slow action that would be closest to the Superfine by Orvis or the G series by Scott but in my opinion. Smoother and better casting than either one of them. This is a 6/7 weight rod. The rod comes complete with an Okuma integrity 1 7/8 reel with line. It also comes and an Okuma fly six compartment fly box with spring loaded glass lids on each compartment. Up for auction is a vintage Montague Redwing 9 foot 4 inch fly rod from the 50s or early 60s. It is in a canvas case that has a tear in it about 2 1/2 inches long and 3/4 inch wide. The pole comes in 3 pieces with an extra 3rd piece as shown in pictures 1.5,6, and 7. I know nothing about fishing poles so I took this one to a sporting goods store and was advised that it is a very old pole in very good condition. There is nothing broken on the pole and all of the parts are there. The adjustment screw for the drag(whatever that is) is missing on the reel. He said that many of these poles were produced in the 50s and 60s and they aren't particularly rare, except this one, although its been used,is in great condition. Having said that the rod is a Wright& McGill" Deluxe" model 4A 8 1/2' fly rood in great condition. Tight wraps. No rash, clean cork, original tube and priced to sell. THIS ROD WAS HARDLY USED. This antique Chas Farlow fly rod came from an auction in Vermont. It is a 4 piece rod. The brass butt is marked Chas Farlow Maker 191 Strand London Prize Medal. It was made between 1852 and 1884. Together the rod measures 10 feet. 10 inches. The reel is made of ash with drop ring brass ferrules. The reel does not have a maker's mark. I believe it to be a Reuben Heaton ebonite, but am not sure. It has a weigh that screws into the base. Any information on what this weight is used for would be greatly appreciated. It is in very good conditon, especially considering that it is at leat 129 years old. The bag has marks, stains. There are some wear marks on the reel and light wear on the rod.
