Vintage Japanese Bamboo Combo Fly / Spinning Rod w/ Reel & Flies
Item is a like-new vintage(i'm guessing mid-late 50s) Japanese combo fishing kit. It comes in a plain wood box w/ spaces for the reel. Flys, etc and except for external wear on the box, the whole kit appears unused. The rod looks to be shellac'd bamboo and has all it's guides and wrapping intact. The handle is reversable to convert it back and forth from fly to casting. The box is 37" long and put together, the fly rod is 8' and the casting rod is 5' 4" long. The reel is a fly reel and the box says Olymicreel type no 500, Made in Japan Tokyo. Action is what you'd expect. Kit includes spool of leader, 19 vintage flys, a hand line w/ line on it, and two hand-painted wooden bobbers. Shipping will be USPS first class mail.

The 1st rod is an HM Graphite HM900-5. 9 foot 5/6 weight. 2 pc. If it isn't brand new I'd be surprised. It is perfect and I'm 99.9% sure it is brand new. The 2nd rod is a an IM6 blank. Likely a Talon, Lamiglas or possibly G Loomis. It is a custom build by a maker named Roy Case. It's a 9 foot 7 weight, 2 pc. Nice build quality and in very good condition. The Reel that comes with the 7 weight is a STH IM Cassette 2 reel and a Cortland WF7 line. Both Rods and the reel come complete with a nice Mountain Cork Double Rod& Reel case to travel with and keep the gear safe when in storage.

The guides and wraps are all solid and the reel seat is in good condition also. The plastic wrap is still on the cork and there is some discoloring on the cork from water getting under the plastic. I have shown this in the last picture. The reel has backing. Fly line and a tapered leader on it. It is in very good condition with no scratches. It has a rubber like hand grip area and some gold tone threaded ribbon decoration near the handle. There are no markings as to what the rod weight or line specifications are. Vintage Hardy Bro. Palakona Perfection Bamboo Fishing Pole
Hardy Brothers Palakona Perfection Bamboo Rod. This pole is 2 piece and measures 8' foot long. Comes with original sock and still has the little wooden peg that goes into the tip of the base end of the rod. Number on handle reads 76734. This may tell you when the pole was made. The second ling guide from the tip is a fly line guide and is different from the rest so I'm not sure if it's original or not. Two of the line guides looks like they may have been rewrapped for the thread is a different shade of red from the others. Tip end has a slight bend to it which is typical of older bamboo rods but overall not bad. Bamboo is in excellent condition with no cracks or splits and cork handle is in good condition with just a bit of staining and a little bit of the cork chipped out here and there. Our project director recently received a large donation of rods and reels that we could use or sell to generate funds for our program. This rod has no nicks, dings or scuffs that I can see. Only the cork shows any signs the rod was used.

Orvis Access 116/4 Switch Fly Rod, Ross CLA 5 Reel, Rio Switch Chucker Line
OK. I'm getting out of the switch rod deal-tried it and I like the single handed stuff too well. Here is a total 6wt outfit that is lightly used but in excellent shape. Orvis Access Switch 11 foot, 6wt, 4 piece, Tip Flex rod with tube with internal dividers plus an after market 4 section rod sock, and blank warranty card. Paired up with this is a Ross CLA 5 Slate Gray reel spooled with the Rio Switch Chucker line and backing in Right Hand retrieve. Reel comes with original pouch, box and blank warranty card. Line box accompanies the deal, too. I've probably fished this combo a half dozen times-partly as a switch rod and a couple times single handing it as a nymph rod. Caught fish on it, too! But, I haven't caught on to the concept and I have too many single handers lying around that need fished. In the few times I've fished ... moreit I've managed to not ding it up anywhere except a couple small nicks on the reel spool that you can probably see in the photo. Pin head sized at the worst. Pflueger Medalist 9'0" Fly Rod #8 Line & Abu Garcia Fly Max 78 Reel
You are bidding on a Pflueger Medalist 9'0" rod with an exceptional matching Abu Garcia Fly Max 78 reel complete with line. The rod and the reel are both in great shape and have only been fished a handful of times and it shows. Very small nick in two places on the cork. Very small but needed mentioning, please see pictures. Both female and male connection points are flawless as are every eye. Has removable end piece for either one or two handed casting techniques(see pictures) What else to say, this is an excellent rod and reel for the advanced fisherman or the avid angler.
