This auction is for a nice vintage fly case. It measures about 2-3/4" x 6" when closed and appears to be somesort of synthetic leatherette. It is marked by way of a stamp indention" Common Sense" inside of a fish logo. It shows wear and some paint splatter but overall nice. It comes witrh some vintage flys as well in various conditions. Has been in a tackle box for the best part of 40 years. Shipping by parcel post mail in the 48 mainland states is $2.50. International post by quotation. You will not be disapointed in your purchase. 1913 Common Sense fly book with vintage fishing flies & lures, some very old
1913 Common Sense fly book with fishing flies and lures This is a very old looking leather case containing a 1913 Common Sense fly book with some very old looking flies along with some more modern but still old looking flies and lures. The front portion of the case has old paper and plastic envelope-pages that used to show the names and types of flies but they are very brittle and practically disentigrate at the touch. The flies on these pages also appear very brittle. One page has a date of October 1913. The pages are attached with heavy old metal rings. Attached in the back of the case are two felt pages with flies and lures on both sides. These appear to be more modern but still very old additions. I don't know anything about fly fishing so I don't know if these have much if any value. I'll let you decide. I do believe these ... moreare only for display based on their age and brittleness. Seller added the following information: The fly-book also contains original lead line. That apparently was used to weight the fly line. As this vintage kit is 80 years old, someone knowledgeable in fly's can perhaps identify the person who produced the Fly's or the brand as I have no knowledge. I did see one of these sold for considerable money in the past and i don't have any clear value other than what I have been told.

1920 K& L COMMON SENSE Fly Wallet measures 5x7" Pat date Oct. 1913. Roughness and wear along right and left edges with some wear on surfaces. Has a double male snap on front. Metal binder inside has 7 envelopes with flaps and clear covered fronts. Has two felt inserts. Wallet has deterioration on cloth liner on inside which can be seen in photos. There are at a rough count 50 vintage. Very nice hand tied streamers, tandems. snelled flies, bass flies and dry flies. This is a very early fly wallet and a great lot of early hand tied flies.

Awesome estate sale find. Vintage 1920's Style No. 30 Common Sense Wet and Dry Fly Book with 55 flies. I don't know a wet fly from a dry fly so I am unable to provide that information. Leather case is in good shape considering age- shows some wear around the edges with a tear near the left snap and corners of the cover. The thread on the right side back pocket has separated. See pics for condition. Features a 12 bay metal snap case, six flapped compartments. A center cloth compartment and a back pocket all containing flies. The back pocket contains a coin envelope with several flies with leaders. Originally this kit contained a pair of tweezers to remove flies from the container- the tweezers are missing. Questions? The flies look to be in great shape as some are carded like the NINE THREE. RED-WHITE, the other from LL BEAN and some other in plastic too but not marked. I am not a watch guy, pen guy, or stamp guy. Im a coin guy and a worm and bobber guy but some of these look so beautiful I am forced to butcher an attempt in the spring of casting one out to a savory landlocked salmon. They have eluded me in these 4+ years in Maine, and I HAVE HAD ENOUGH! I intend to list the rest of them tomorrow and Monday night. Other fly pouches and flies will be listed but all the flies in this lot were in this book. So i figured to keep them together.
