Six triangular packets of gut snelled hooks, a lead sinker, an envelope postmarked 1901 with gut leaders inside and a loose snelled hook or two. Included among the snelled hook packets are a Sneck No.4 with four hooks, a Kinsey No.11 with six, a Harrison, Bartleet's No.4 with three, a Carlisle No.1 with six, a packet with"Bass" and New York on the front by W.B. S. Redditch with six and a Harrison's No.2 with 4. Antique Leather Fly Fishing Wallet with approx 80 Original Flies c1890 The owner's name is written in ink inside the wallet. It looks to be D A Topley. Though I cannot be certain. His address is Avenue Street. There is a road of that name in Ripley, which is less than 5 miles away from where I acquired this wallet, so it seems to have remained in the area all its life. There is no date in the folder but it is almost certainly late Victorian. There is a small paper wallet of the fishing rod and tackle maker W J Cummins inside which is useful for dating purposes. It mentions the International Fisheries Exhibition of 1883. The leather wallet measures around 163mm by 100mm. And contains around 80 flies. Some are in compartments with hand written details alongside. Some of the contents might have got a little mixed up over the years, But I ... morehave not moved anything and the wallet is exactly as it was when I acquired it. I have described the wallet and flies to the best of my ability. But I have no knowledge about fishing. I have scanned a few pages of the wallet and hope my images will speak for themselves. scarce huge old vintage antique handmade fly fishing lure lot in leather wallet
What a splendid find! Very old high quality leather wallet for lures. Full of actual lures. There is some deterioration(see photos) to the leather inside the wallet- the contains are made of parchment'pages' with pockets. The wallet is filled with a large lot of different lures, all appear to be old and hand made. I know very little on this subject, hence I couldn't understand the handwritten remarks next to each kind of bait. Some are very small, some are large, all have hooks. I counted appr. 50 lures, but it seems the exact amount is actually higher. This is absolutely a must for all serious fishing tackle or sports collector!

There is also a flapped page for Leaders and a page of felt to dry your flies. This is the classic wallet with four thick felt leaves and each inside flap lined with sheepskin to form a pocket. In one pocket are two vintage leaders. I think this is from the 1930s and it has vintage flies on the felt. Most are snelled wet flies.typical of the era. I count 63 flies. The wallet is about 7 1/2 inches by 4 1/4 inches. I find no makers marks or logo anywhere on the wallet. Condition is as you see it in the photos. I dont see any damage on the flies or rusted hooks but given the age some may have been fished. Contains about 16 beautiful old flies. Some are snelled, some not. Great to frame in a display. Wallet has damaged and missing snap button. There are five separate compartments, each with the printed label. Creased paper tops are separated on two of these. Probably smells a bit musty. Check my photos for details. Check out my!
