They are mainly in unused condition with differing styles and sizes(see clear picture to decide before bidding) They are japanned salmon iron hooks for blind eyed fl y hooks and go up to size 55mm approx. There is tapered and non tapered and all are japanned finish. These are rarely seen for sale and highly collectable. A set of Salmon Hooks dating to the 1890's(removed from a box from a Scottish Castle which contained a collection of salmon flies) sewn onto a contemporary card. Sizes 8/0 to 10. See the late 19th century handwriting on both sides of the card including(on the reverse) sizes of hooks(Limerick) This card acted as a fly scale for the flies in the collection. Some rusting and staining to the card(to be expected having regard to the age of the hooks) The flies have been carefully re-sewn because the original sewing had partly disintegrated. This listing is for a vintage 27" wide 21" High and 3" deep very early oak frame. Plastic front, containing 42 vintage mounted SALMON FLIES. Single and double hook flies in various sizes. Mounted by means of toothpick sized extension and drop of glue on each. This display came from the estate of an avid fishing collector and has been in his collection, on his wall for many years. Has a print of a salmon in center of display Will be shipped in a wooden shipping box and buyer must keep in mind that since the mounting is not substantial there may be some loosening of mounts during shipment. Here is a nice scarce vintage fishing hook lot. They are in unused condition(see clear pictures to decide before bidding) They are silver blind eye hooks for gut eyed fly tying and these are offset and with lovely fine taper. Not often seen for sale and there are a dozen in a size 2. A great lot for the collector and rarely seen for sale! I still have one of the lowest postal structures for the items I sell if you check around. Tight lines. CANADIAN ANTIQUE SALMON FLIES FISHING LURES VINTAGE TACKLE FEATHERS HOOKS LATE 18th EARLY 19th CENTURY Canadian Salmon Flies. 3 ½ x 6 inches(envelope) pair of handmade Salmon flies. Composed of various coloured feathers tied around large hooks. both found together in an old paper envelope inscribed: Canadian Salmon Flies(1825) Note shape of hooks, and the peculiarly long loops which is only double gut twisted. This particular shape of hook is very unusual, and I have never been able to discover the maker in any of the reference books, the nearest I’ve ever seen is an illustration of a fly dressed in 1775(Allcock Collection) please see images) probably Canadian. early nineteenth century.
