Wheatley Fly Box Here is an old Wheatley aluminum alloy 12 compartment fly box with a felt drying pad. The tinted windows all open although some need a little encouragement. Box measures about 4 3/4" X 3 1/2" X 7/8" and weighs 4.7 ounces. It is marked with Made In England logo and Regd and Patent numbers on the lip. The box is dinged up but still seals securely and there is some discoloration on the lid where I removed some tape. According to the Wheatley website. Here is a nice vintage English made fly container. It is in good used condition with some normal usage marking/tarnish(see clear picture to decide before bidding) It is a Silmalloy fly container by Richard Wheatley and is the compartment and clip version. I must say that a few(maybe 3 or 4) do not automatically spring open but can be easily rectified. The compartments contain a number of flies to card and appear to be Hardy flies judging by some of them. There is a number of used flies also on the clips and approx 40 flies in total. The carded ones in the compartments appear to be unused. This particular model not seen for sale that often! Vintage Two Compartment Aluminum Perrine Fly Fishing Box Loaded with Flies
For sale at a buy it now fixed price is this Caddis Fly Box loaded with flies. Right out of an old Denver estate it is an 6 inch x 4 inch aluminum box with a divider. There is no makers mark on the box but it is an early Perrine. One side has small compartments for nymphs. Snelled flies or streamers and the divider clips shut so that they won't fall out. The other has roll spring clips for bigger flies. It has more than 90 flies, some wet flies, some dry and some nymphs which range all the way from a size 20 hook to a size 10 long hook. It is an eclectic lot that would cover almost any trout fishing need from tiny gray hackles to big hoppers. Condition is as you see it in the photos. Lower right compartment indented and hard to open. Tiny little wire part of spring latch out of position. I did not take the flies out of this one. Estimate is 24 total flies.
