Inside the case it says: Jungle Cock Special Nymph No. 2"I am well aware that it is illegal to used imported Jungle Cock Feathers in the manufacture of artificial fishing flies intended for re-sale. And I think that this is commendable and proper. It is not my intenctino to encourage their improper use. The Feathers used on the flies in the accompanying plate have been in my possession for a period in excess of 50 years. They were not used because they were too large for shouldering even the largest of western streamer flies. The pattern shown is not truly indicative. Or even remotely similar, to any natural stonefly nymphs with which would have to ... morebe completely naïve in regard to the feeding proclivities of large western trout if he failed to recognize its potential merit. I use this pattern. Or it's close relative JC Special#1, when I think a high-visibility pattern would be more suitable to meet existing water conditions. A celebrated fly fisherman and Montana conservationist who cherished the Big Hole River and successfully fought construction of a dam there, has died at the age of 102. Grant died of natural causes Sunday in Butte. He had an international reputation for fly tying. With a pattern called the Black Creeper perhaps his most famous. Grant’s conservation work included fighting, with some landowners, the proposed 1960s construction of Raichle Dam on the main stem of the Big Hole, one of the state’s top fishing streams.
