It is in good used condition with some tarnish/wear and light inscription which looks like fly sizes on both sides of the box(see clear picture to decide before bidding) It is is a Silmalloy fly container by Richard Wheatley and is the swing leaf version. It contains a good number(80 approx) of assorted trout. Sea trout and salmon fly. This particular model not seen for sale that often! The box contains some very nice salmon flies and trout/sea trout(sewing) flies. All are good and most look to me unused. There are doubles mostly with some singles and a nice quantity of detatched daddy long legs, there are 10 exceptions, these are the bottom 10 flies on the first page, these are much older flies and have been used and are missing feathers.there is a nice very old silver grey iron in there also it is in Ok condition. A hand made box in England by Richard Wheatleys who have been doing this for over 150 years. The Wheatley Small made in England stamp is on the side of the box and Silmalloy metal stamp on the back of the box. VINTAGE HARDY BLACK JAPANNED SWING LEAF SALMON FLY TIN..........
Here is a very early Hardy black japanned Salmon fly tin but i'm afraid it has lost it's Hardy lozenge that should have been on the top of the tin. It is fitted with a swing leaf and has 90 clips for the large Salmon flies, the exterior of the tin retains nearly all of it's original finish but the interior would have to be re-done. there is one small ding to one of the corners of the tin, opens and shuts very well. It measures approx 8" by 5" by 1 1/4" deep. if you have time have a peek at my other fishing items.

Here we have an old Vintage Richard Wheatley swing leaf salmon alloy fly tin full of good useable salmon flies. It is an 80 clip tin and has a mixture of 62 fully dressed and hairwing salmon flies singles and doubles, i think that there is 3 flies that have not been tied on black japanned hooks, the tin is good for it's age measuring approx 6" x 3 1/2" no dents, opens and shuts well. if you have time have a peek at my other fishing items.
