Wheatley Fly Box Here is an old Wheatley aluminum alloy 12 compartment fly box with a felt drying pad. The tinted windows all open although some need a little encouragement. Box measures about 4 3/4" X 3 1/2" X 7/8" and weighs 4.7 ounces. It is marked with Made In England logo and Regd and Patent numbers on the lip. The box is dinged up but still seals securely and there is some discoloration on the lid where I removed some tape. According to the Wheatley website. Vintage Wheatley Mid Sized Fly Case and Flies.
I have called this a mid sized Fly case because it sit between the Pocket size and Vest Pocket size cases by Wheatley. This one measures 4 3/4" x 3 1/2" and has different sized clips on either side of the interior. The outer is anodised and is in pretty good order as is the interior. I hope the picture will give a good rendition of the flies contained in this case. They look to be in very good condition and useable. There are about 72 in total.

I must say that a few(maybe 3 or 4) do not automatically spring open but can be easily rectified. The compartments contain a number of flies to card and appear to be Hardy flies judging by some of them. There is a number of used flies also on the clips and approx 40 flies in total. It is in good used condition with some wear and tarnish(see clear picture to decide before bidding) It is a Wheatley Silmalloy box and has a leafed section so gives four sections for the flies. It contains a number of assorted vintage and not so flies in good condition. The box has some tarnish/discolouration and has a name lightly marked on one side which is hardly noticable. This is the Medium sized. Wheatley Silmaloy, Trout Fly Case. It will fit in the pocket of your Fly Fishing Jacket and will hold a good selectiondays fishing. Whether your selection will work on that day is another matter. The case is in good condition with only minor signs of use. With one noticeable blemish. It has 50 small clips on one side of the lid and 35 slightly larger ones on the other. The case contains a few flies which appear usable. Here is a nice vintage fly fishing container. It is in good honest used condition with some light wear and oxidising on the outer(see clear picture to decide before bidding) It is an early Richard Wheatley Silmalloy fly box and has a good number of assorted trout and other flies- approx 55 flies in all. It has a nice clean inner section. There is a monogram scratched onto the lid and the Wheatley logo is present also. Not often seen for sale and highly desirable for the vintage tackle and lure collector. Postage cost reflects the new Royal Mail price structure for this size of item to be posted. VERY RARE RICHARD WHEATLEY FLY BOX ~ CAST HOLDER & TWEEZERS (EXCELLENT VINTAGE)
foxrate.seller.widget.tag.foxrate.swf. RICHARD WHEATLEY FLY BOX Vintage Richard Wheatley fly box. The box is 4.3/4" and has 12 compartments and a pigskin leather cast holder. The original tweezers is also included, it was hand made in England by Richard Wheatleys who have been doing this for over 150 years. The Wheatley small made in England logo is on the side and Silmalloy metal stamp to the back of the box. An extremely rare box because of its fine condition. There are light scratches to the box and my opinion it has been used but not much, also the cardboard trade carton it comes in, this is not in mint condition and does show signs of wear, it has been in my collection for many years and i have only ever seen 5 boxes in their original packaging, there would have been some tissue paper to pad the box also inside when sold!
