Rare & vintage c 1880 Bernard leather fly/cast wallet
An early Victorian fly wallet made for the firm of Bernard. Church Place, PICCADILLY before the son was born and they moved to the better known address of Jermyn Street. The parchment interior is set up to take three fly sprays each side of the page and has a double folding pocket to the front and rear flaps. Clearly marked Bernard, Church Place, PICCADILLY to interior flap. The wallet shows its age and in places has had insect damage but a rare wallet and will benefit from a little renovation. Measures 5" x 3" with a front metal clasp and nice gold(brass) fish badge on front. Each cover has an inside compatment. And there are several pages of parchment pockets for flies, casts, etc. There is also a central felt/ wadding leaf, with parchment either side. I think this type of wallet dates from between 1915- 1935. Allcocks advertised very similar wallets as' black leatherette Fly Books' A really nice object an a favourite from my collection. Alnwick packet holding a coiled tapered gut cast and to the inside two small original Hardy paper labels.The packet has the crest of The Late King George V and H.R.H.The Prince of Wales feathers with the dates 1931-1936(this mark would have been used after this date so is not necessarily an accurate production date guide)and measures approximately 9.4 by 8.5cm.The cast detail states that it is a No.355,3 yds. and Tapered to 3x.According to a 1954 Hardy Catalogue(page 105)this cast looks to be The'Houghton' cast which is described as'Of the most suitable taper for general fly-fishing.The stout end is the correct thickness to use with our'CORONA' double-tapered fly lines'This was available ... morein two lengths of 3 and 21/2 yards and in four strengths from 1x to 4x.This one is in 3x which is described by Hardys as'Fine'To there rear of the packet there is an original red seal over the rear flap reads:Sealed by Hardys For Your Protection.Please see the other listed bygone Hardy invoices.Bids from the UK,Europe and the Rest of the World are welcome.If you are bidding from the UK the delivery will be charged at 89p,for Europe £2.99 and for the Rest of the World £3.49. Here is a nice scarce vintage fishing item. It is in very good and clean used condition with assorted content(see clear pictures to decide before bidding) It is a very nice japanned cast and fly container by William Robertson of Glasgow. It contains vellum leaves and is full of good content. Assorted gut traces etc and two nice lots of old flies to gut in spray and shortened trace versions. Marked on the last vellum sheet and on the inner container at the back. Nice gold edged and most of the japanned black intact. A nice displayable collectable. C ertainly one for the collection- rarely seen for sale. I still have one of the lowest postal structures for the items I sell if you check around. Tight lines. A NICE SCARCE VINTAGE LOT OF ALLOY FLY TINS, CAST CONTAINER, TOKOZ AND WHEATLEY
Here is a nice scarce vintage group of fly containers. They are good used condition some better than others(see clear pictures to decide before bidding) There is a nice Wheatley leafed fly box with some scuffing on the front and the leaf knob missing but otherwise fine. There is then an unusual Tokoz stamped fly and lure container. A bit worn but still fully functional. There is then a Whealtley Cast and fly container, slightly worn and with some oxidising and with a number of flies. Finally another Wheatley earated box which is clean inside and pretty good but ever so slightly mis-shapen so does not clip together hard. C ertainly ones for the collection- rarely seen for sale. Hi, I have for sale is a Vintage Fly Wallet with 3 Casts that have Flies. The wallet is in overall good condition for its age with signs of wear and age. The strap which wraps round the wallet and fastens with a buckle is in good condition. On the inside of the wallet are some pockets to put items in and the previous owner has written there name.
