Very Nice Vintage Fly Wallet. Made by Cooper in San Francisco and labeled inside flap cover. It is a canvas 2 ring binder with 8 pages. Measures Approx. 4" X 7" Flap cover with working snap. 5 Pages are canvas with a clear plastic section and a flap opening. There is also a flapped page for Leaders and a page of felt to dry your flies. There is a label on each fly page which is printed: The Cooper Fly Envelope, Patented United States March 16th 1909, Great Britain Feb. 8th 1909. There is an area labeled to Name of Fly and Sizes. I have never heard of the company but this is a very nice piece in good condition. Vinyl is all intact and there are a couple of tandem fly rigs in the wallet. The item is used and a little dirty on outside canvas but not overly. Pages show a little water staining on fly pages but nothing bad. Grow your collection- display in restaurant or cabin or place of business PROVENANCE This fly wallet belonged to Harry James Manning(of 524 Majestic Bldg) in approximately 1908 to 1910. I found out that Mr. Manning was a renowned Denver architect from 1904 until the 1930s designing the Boettcher mansion. The Moffat mansion as well as various buildings on the Regis College and Denver University's campuses and much more. The only ads for this wallet were in each of Forest& Stream and Field& Stream dated 1908/1909. The company, from what I've determined existed from about 1908-1920s in New York. The wallet was U.S. pat. no. US891055A by Herbert J Frost. The fly book/wallet is possibly over 100 years old and very well may be the only one left of it's kind. It is made of sealskin with calfskin lining and has four removable ... moretransparent celluloid pockets. Bound and fastened at one end in glove-button style. The capacity is eight dozen flies and three dozen leaders. Attached to this book is an aluminum box with moistening pad for flies and leaders in separate divisions.send to the manufacturers, H.
