An old Airex Larchmont spinning reel made in the USA. The clicker/anti-reverse mechanism works fine. The drag doesn't develop as much resistance as it should and the reel takes a little more effort to turn than it should. With some lube and adjustment it should make a nice functional reel.

Airex Larchmont Model 3 Spin Reel Manufactured By Lionel USA
This spinning reel the Larchmont Airex Model 3 was made by a division of Lionel Corporation. It is in remarkably good shape for being over 60-years old or older. Only thing it needs is fresh line and the spring(its there) to be adjusted on bail. Nothing is broken or rusty. This would be a find for any tackle collector or fancier of anything Lionel. The reel could be used of course but I think of it as a collectors find. Just found it at an estate sale and it was not in the barn or garage. But kept in a an inside closet.

30 Vintage Airex Larchmont spin reel This spin reel was made in USA. in the late 50s and weighs 11.3 oz. It was the first free-spool baitrunner type spin reel ever made and it comes with a black colored metal body. Good bail, good drag& free-spool, strong anti-reverse, and smooth gears. It shows wear to the finish throughout but mostly to the bottom back. It works well and It has a 3.4/1 gear ratio and will hold 180 yds. of 6lb.test it is a fairly good quality reel, and is a grade 7/8+. If you are not happy with an item. Returns are fine but buyer pays shipping. The reels I sell are 98% used. And in between 20& 100 years old. Most are far from perfect, so I some times use the Orca grading system, the first no. is how it looks and the second how it works. A 5/5 would be for parts and a 10/10 would be new. You are viewing a very rare fishing reel. This reel is in great working condition. It's been thoroughly tested and found to be working perfectly. Some signs of light wear are present on the reel. But this has only been lightly used in freshwater according to it's previous owner who did not fish often. This is an Airex Larchmont Model 3 Made by the Lionel Corporation in the USA. History: Airex was started in 1947 by Bache Brown making the fixed drum fishing reels that were popular in both Europe and the United States. They sold to Lionel Corp. a few years later. And large scale spinning reel manufacturing was born. At the height of sales Airex was the largest manufacturer of spinning reels in the United States. Eventually the company was sold again in 1964 due to competition. The Airex reels were considered the highest quality of their ... moretime. The Airex Larchmont Model 3 was arguably the best quality of these reels. Being sought after by knowledgeable collectors. I do not have any information on the line capacity of this reel. It comes with some of it's original line still on the spool. The reel is approximately 5.5 inches long from front to back. The reel weighs 12.5 ounces. This reel is all original and genuine. No modifications have been made. Though this reel could be used still today for fishing. And it would work quite well, I do not recommend it being purchased for actual use due to the limited amount of replacement parts available. It should be for display only. However it would make great conversation among your fishing buddies. I do have a return policy. But if the reel is taken apart, fished with, or modified in any way I will not accept returns. I am guaranteeing this reel to arrive with everything working properly as it should. Up for auction are a pair of vintage Airex spinning reels. They are both in good working condition. The drags. Bail arms, anti-reverse, and clickers work nicely. The bail arm on the Larchmont snaps over very quietly. I'm not sure if it supposed to be like that or not. This is a very rare fishing reel. This reel is in great working condition. It's been thoroughly tested and found to be working perfectly. Some signs of light wear are present on the reel. But this has only been lightly used in freshwater according to it's previous owner who did not fish often. This is an Airex Larchmont Model 3 Made by the Lionel Corporation in the USA. History: Airex was started in 1947 by Bache Brown making the fixed drum fishing reels that were popular in both Europe and the United States. They sold to Lionel Corp. a few years later. And large scale spinning reel manufacturing was born. At the height of sales Airex was the largest manufacturer of spinning reels in the United States. Eventually the company was sold again in 1964 due to competition. The Airex reels were considered the highest quality of their time. ... moreThe Airex Larchmont Model 3 was arguably the best quality of these reels. Being sought after by knowledgeable collectors. I do not have any information on the line capacity of this reel. It comes with some of it's original line still on the spool. The reel is approximately 5.5 inches long from front to back. The reel weighs 12.5 ounces. This reel is all original and genuine. No modifications have been made. Though this reel could be used still today for fishing. And it would work quite well, I do not recommend it being purchased for actual use due to the limited amount of replacement parts available. It should be for display only. However it would make great conversation among your fishing buddies. I do have a return policy. But if the reel is taken apart, fished with, or modified in any way I will not accept returns. I am guaranteeing this reel to arrive with everything working properly as it should. Up for auction is a"Vintage"Airex Larchmont Model 3 Spinning Reel" For parts or repair! Reel is missing a spacer on the spool and the bail! Makers mark is on the palm side.Airex Division of Lionel Corporation Made In U. S. A. see picture#2, and also on the handle side, Larchmont Model 3, see picture#5. Reel turns smooth with a working dial drag lever on the handle side and a strong on and off click activated by the sliding button on the handle side which also controls the anti-reverse. Airex Larchmont model 2, with quadrate braking system.
This is an exceptionally clean model 2 the only rub mark is on the bottom of the reel shown in photo 3. The anti-reverse works perfectly as well as the drag. The anodized handle and spool are in very nice condition. No wear at all. There is line on this spool and that's how I purchased it. This is a very nice display reel or useable reel for fishing.
