VINTAGE MITCHELL MODEL 301A SPINNING REEL LEFT HANDED
VINTAGE GARCIA MITCHELL MODEL 301A SPINNING REEL LEFT HANDED This is a Vintage MITCHELL 301A Left Hand Reel. One of America's favorite Fishing Reels, made in FRANCE. It has some light scratching and edge wear but still looks nice. You can see all of this on the Pictures. The spool housing is marked- 4.2:1Retrieve Ratio- Line Capacity Test/Yardage 7/350- 8/275- 12/210- 24/320- 26/250- 30/190. The front of the spool is marked GRAPHITE CARBON SPOOL. The reel feels good and solid and cranks well. Below I have outlined the concerns with the reel. I picked this up at a garage sale. The Bail Wire has me questioning if it is the correct one that belongs on this reel. If you look at the Pictures(1) you can see how low it sits in the close position and when open. 2)it only goes about half way over the spool. When you go to close the spool(3) some ... moretimes it will not close all of the way it is so close to being closed and most of the time it does close all the way. It is missing the Lube Housing Screw in Picture# 5 Left hand model- cast with left hand. Crank with right hand. Shipping is $8.50 in the USA. Thanks.

LOT 6 MITCHELL FISHING REELS: Saltwater, 324 W/ Box, 306, 410, 301A, ? working.
Lot of 6 Mitchell. Garcia Mitchell Reels. As best I can tell they are all functional although some are sluggish, missing paint, loose. Described below. 1. Mitchell Saltwater- No number that I can see. Serial number A34657. It seems to be functional although the bail is loose so when you crank it the bail hits the handle of the reel. It is missing some paint. Maybe 20-30% everything else looks OK. 2. Garcia Mitchell 324 with box. Instructions, guarantee, and advertising paperwork. Serial number on box 151651 matches reel serial number. The reel seems to be in great working shape. There is a bit of paint missing on the part of the reel that hooks on the pole. The other odd thing is that the spool is grey plastic and is kind of faded. It looks different from the rest of the reel. Not sure what that is about. It is marked"model depose" ... moreclearly Mitchell but different. One corner of the box is split and there are some dings, and punctures to the cardboard. 3. Garcia Mitchell 410- Seems to work well. There is some paint missing maybe 30-40% Spool. Bail, handle all seem to work well. 4. Garcia Mitchell 306- everything seems to work well although when you crank it. It seems to have increased resistance.does not spin completely easily. it has serial number#0110744 on the base. 5. Mitchell 306A- This reel seems to be in really good shape. no paint missing. Spins easily, serial number#210507 on the base. 6. Last is unmarked Mitchell- Not sure model. 20% paint missing. The clicker part does not seem to engage. Spins easily. Everything else seems OK. Reel has silent anti-reverse feature. Bail finish is very good. Some very light edge silvering and faint marks on reel foot tips. As it subject to interpretation which is left or right. Winding hand side or rod holding hand. like calling a righthand baseball mitt a lefty) The 301A. Right hand wind, reel down, has some light wear on the housing Line specification decal all around, Some paint flaking around the switch, otherwise limited other wear and tear, Unknown length braid line. Appears to work good. However the switch for the reel reverse lock easily passes by the inner detent to lock. So have operate by feel, there no stop to keep it from moving past the inner detent and if does. in effect not working. I took the side plate off to see if it was a problem with worn parts or the spring that engages the lock ... moreteeth and all looks good. Well greased. and where I noticed the switch passes the flat detent on the inside for it to engage and if operating by feel locks as solid as should. The 300. Left hand wind. reel down. also in good used condition with limited wear and tear, Full unknown weight test monofilament line. Both still have line on the spools. one regular monofilament nylon and other braid type. unknown test weights and lengths. Both relatively clean under the quick release spools. Both have good smooth/quick actions/ working. Clicking drags etc. Both have little soiling on the aluminum handles. Recessed finishes etc. as shows up in the photo's. Both have scuffs around the end screw. Sorry. Didn't take a detailed photo of those) Includes: Spare Spindle with no spool. Fits both these reels. Appears in good used condition, still has the sticker on the back recommending what line to use.faded condition. Spare spool case. for a Large spool or as indicated on the lid. Cosmeticly, the 301A is the nicest. The 300 has some wear spots and the DAM Quick has some paint loss. The 2 Mitchells work great. The DAM Quick is pretty stiff and the bale does not snap back all the way. I think it just needs a little oil. Satisfaction is guaranteed. If you are not pleased. Just mail it back for a full refund. RARE Mitchell 301A Spinning Fishing Reel - Left Hand - Double Silver Band
This is a Rare Left Hand Version Mitchell 301A Spinning Reel with a double silver band around the rotating head. Does not say garcia on the reel. Shows minimal signs of use with a minor scratch or scuff. But nothing of significance as you can see. Mechanics are great and function accordingly. The bail looks as though it has been slightly bent, but functions great nonetheless. I can’t quite make out the reel foot number, but I can see that the first letter is an L. On the side opposite the handle it says Made In France. The retrieve ratio is 4.2:1 and will hold 350 yards of 7 lb. line, 275 yards of 8 lb. line and 210 yards of 12 lb. line. Included with the box is an unissued guarantee fold-out and a fold-out showing exploded views with part numbers for the 300A. 300C, 301A, 301C, 306A, 307A, 308A, 309A and the 350A…an awesome reference that everyone who either uses or collects these reels should have! The sleeve has some shelf wear as well as some warpage. The box has one corner flap torn. The fold-outs are in great shape. All in all it’s a very good item that’s not too easy to come by.
