Mitchell 304– 1953-1972 = 2.992,405 Units Mitchell 305– 1955-1970 = 204,034 Units In the mid-thirties La Canne à Pêche poorly translated to“The Cane to Fishes” locates in Angers, France started developing a reel they named after their own company called the C.A.P. While they did succeed in at least two“prototypes” we know of but not shown, they went to Carpano& Pons for further development and production and by 1939, mass production of the C.A.P(and The Mitchell) began in Cluses, France. Vintage Mitchell Cap Reel. On one side of the reel it say's Mitchell CAP. On the other side of the reel it say's Made in France and CAP. I see no other writing on this reel. I tried an extra spool on this reel that is marked 304-305 and it fit perfectly. So I believe this reel is a 305. The crank is on the right side for left handed people. There is some paint wear. Please see photo's. It has a clicker anti-reverse. All systems work. Good Used Vintage Condition. It also comes with a red/black plastic storage box. On the box it say's 301 on a paper tag so I do not think this box is original with this reel. The box also has Mitchell on the bottom of the box.

Mitchell CAP Spinning Reel Version 4 (1949)
Mitchell Cap Spinning Reel Version 4 With Box(1949) Version 4. I believe this reel is the first successor to the model with the flattened dome on the left side and the sliding button anti-reverse. It is still a half bail with pillared spool. Aluminum winder knob and non-planamatic gearing, but the dome is gone, the anti-reverse is now a 304 style lever, the leg is straight on the right side, the external counterweight is gone, and there is a lubrication port at the rear. There is still no writing on the left side but"Made in France" has been added to the C.A.P. on the right side.

The reel itself works good, but does have quite a bit of paint wear and some wear on chrome pieces. The box is a bit rough, seen clearly in pictures. Pflueger Tackle. Akron, OH Unusual Pflueger Spinning Reel This is a new one on me. never heard of it before. The design and construction looks like something from WWII Germany. It has a cap on the rear end that reads"Pelican 1020. Pat. Pending, Made in Akron, Ohio USA" And the black cap on top of the spool reads"Pflueger Pelican" When I first tried to crank the reel, it felt as though the gears were going bad. Then I noticed the little brass clip beneath the handle. It does not look original to the reel(might be the backer for a military medal or brooch) It is clipped to a pin that is connected to a spring. When you pull it out a little, the reel cranks very smoothly. So I'm guessing the original part puts more pressure on the spring. Cool, old reel- but appears to need that part to work properly. EARLY GARCIA MITCHELL CAP # 304 SPINNING REEL - PRICED 2 SELL
This is the early version of the Mitchell 304's as later in the manufacturing process they left off the" Garcia Product" sticker. The reel is in 100% working order with minimal loss of paint. The only issue other then normal wear is that someone shaved off a little metal from the bottom reel seat to probably fit into his rod[ picture 5] but it does not show on the top side guaranteed.
