Vintage Mitchell 300A Spinning Reel
This vintage Mitchell 300A is in very good shape for it's age. It seems mechanicaly and physicaly in good working order. It retrieves fine but seems a little tight. Might need to be lubricated from age. The bail seems to work fine also. Has a quick release spool for line. I tried to undo the handle to spin it but couldn't move the lock nut. Fishing Up for consideration is a rare Mitchell 300A. Double red band spinning reel that was made on a short run between 1977 and 1978. This is an awesome reel that functioins flawlessly. Cosmetically, the reel is in excellent condition with only one small 1/4" rub on the bottom of the case just under the handle. There is also a very small spot on the bottom of the foot. Besides these rubs, this reel is in beautiful condition and presents very well with it's bright vivid graphics and rich black painted finish. Normal 0 Made in France: Don't let the"A" fool you. It is a 300 made in France and contrary to popular belief. Garcia is not part of the Mitchell name. Garcia was the North America(United States and Canada) distributor. Garcia ownership only lasted 3 years, 1974-1977. This reel is superb and does not show any signs of its age; no signs of abuse. No dents, no cracks, nothing, and a smooth like new bail. The drag, bail, anti reverse is in proper working order. The reel works in a smooth and snappy fashion, with no signs of any problems. Vintage 1988? Mitchell 300A Spinning Reel Made in France 4.2:1 RUNNING GREAT This vintage reel is in great used condition and is ready to take fishing right now. Well. Okay, you might want to put line on it first… Actually it could also benefit by a quick wipe with a soft cloth too, but you get the idea. It has a high gear ratio of 4.2:1 and cosmetically it’s in good used condition with minor wear in the finish that has no effect on function. The chrome is in good condition too. Mechanically. The gears feel nice and smooth and mesh the way you’d expect in a quality Mitchell reel; the drag system also works well and smoothly, the anti-reverse system engages correctly, and the bail cocks and trips well and with authority. In running the serial number through the Mitchell reel dating sight I end up about 1988. If you can’t make the serial number ... moreout in the picture it’s T.4. Please see the pictures for a more complete description and don’t hesitate to ask questions or for more pictures if you can’t see something. I’m happy to help. But perhaps not the best photographer. For some reason the camera flash made the overall color of the picture a little more red, so I included shots both ways. Unfortunately I had to use the flash to show some of the details. This reel feels good and solid in your hand and would either make a great display piece with other period gear. Or of course you could turn a couple of heads and just fish it. This is a Mitchell 300A Spinning Reel with a single red band(band has worn off some in places) around the rotating head. Does not say garcia on the reel. It shows a little ware/light marks on the finish. But nothing major as you can see. The reel is decently clean, that is, does not need to be cleaned but can be cleaned some if desired. Mechanics are great and function accordingly. The reel foot number is Q, 1, 12. On the side opposite the handle it says Made In France. The retrieve ratio is 4.2:1 and will hold 400 yards of 6 lb. line, 275 yards of 8 lb. line and 235 yards of 10 lb. line. This is a nice reel and ready to catch fish or add to your collection. The printed graphics are sharp and not worn, the chrome bail shines with virtually no pitting, and the black paint has a very good gloss, with just some light scuff and scratch wear. To test it out I made about 10 casts, and it casts and cranks smoothly and feels well lubricated. The bail opens and flips back crisply, the anti reverse works properly, and the drag works as it should. Vintage Mitchell 300A Spinning Fishing Reel - NATURAL ALUMINUM SPOOL
This is a garcia Mitchell 300A Spinning Reel with a double red band around the rotating head. Made in France and no reel foot number. It shows a little ware/light mark/rub on the finish. But nothing really of any concern as you can see. Mechanics function flawlessly to the best that I can tell. The retrieve ratio is 4.2:1 and will hold 325 yards of 8 lb. line, 275 yards of 10 lb. line, 250 yards of 12 lb. line, and 200 yards of 15 lb. line. Vintage Mitchell 300A Spinning Reel Made in France Ser# P. 5.01
Nice vintage reel in good condition.Bale works and springs back.Drag works and has that solid Mitchell ping.Some surface scratches(See photos)Spins at least 3.5 rotations after you reel up and let go.You can feel a vibration inside egg housing.But handle spins freely.Could use a little cleaning.Take a look at the pictures and buy accordingly.Questions welcome.

Vintage RARE Mitchell 300A spinning reel In near perfect condition
Rare Mitchell 300A Red Band in near mint condition. Functions perfectly as well. Comes with a spare large cap. spool and case. This reel is super nice for being made in 1977. This Red Band 300A is the rarest of the 300A's as it is the first edition from that I understand. This reel is a 4.2:1 gear ratio, it reels smoothly, the bail works great, as does the anti-reverse. I would rate this a 9+ cosmetically and 8+ for function. It has old stiff grease inside that needs to be cleaned out for it to function better. But some collectors may want it that way so I did not open it up.

Up for auction is a"Mitchell 300A Spinning Reel with Instruction Manual and Service Center Booklet Made In France! Reel Is In Very Good Condition with Very Light Wear! Makers mark is on the handle side.Garcia Mitchell 300, see picture#3, and on the back, Made In France, see picture#4, reel works as new, bail clicks over and snaps back fast, reel has a strong on and off click activated by the switch on the heel which also controls the anti-reverse. Reel weight is 12 ounces and the diameter is 2 1/4 inches. Foot has the previous owners initials lightly scratched on the foot! Also the serial number, looks like either, 165309, or"65309, is stamped on the foot, see picture 12. I will ship the next day after recieving payment. Please check out my other listings!
