I'm not certain if the handle's folding mechanism(the patent of which was still pending) was limited to this edition or not but it is certainly a notable and quite convenient feature for packing/transport. Perhaps the most unique aspect of this reel is its external bail trip mechanism. Such designs have long since been replaced with the more seamless transition internal ... moretrip. This reel is among the last models produced by Daiwa(perhaps the last? using this antiquated mechanical trip. Manufactured by Daiwa in Seiko Japan during the 1970's. This model was produced in an effort to compete with high-end reels being offered by US makers at the time. The condition of this reel is exceptional. Mechanically it functions as new. It is easy to see that it saw little use as there are very few tiny marks/scratches(primarily on the spool) which are visible only on very close inspection under good lighting. There is a bit of green surface corrosion on a small brass washer holding the handle on(see photo#1) mentioned only for the sake of complete accuracy. All in all, this is an outstanding example of a highly collectible transitional design, limited edition spinning reel. This is a medium size saltwater or heavy freshwater reel.
