The top of the reel foot is marked"Product of Sweden 750400. It is super smooth and fully functional with all functions turning easily. This includes the push button spool removal. Bail, anti reverse rear drag setting knob, handle and gears. There is a full spool of mono present. The entire body is dark green and the rotor cup is light green with a black spool and bail housing. The finish is glossy and smooth. The paint is virtually fully intact with only the slightest bit of rub present in a couple of places. Overall this is certainly a gorgeous example of the Zebco ... more3 Cardinal spinning reel whether you plan to fish it or as a fabulous addition to your collection. The only issue I see is a small spot on back above drag knob where paint is missing. I do not see any other defects. The color does not look faded. This is a very nice reel for its age. Very nice vintage Zebco Cardinal 3 reel in the original box. With catalog, unopened oiler packet, wrench, extra spool and box cardboard insert. This reel appears to be gently used. If you use a magnifying glass you can see very minor paint damage just above the drag knob on the right hand side. It is hardly noticeable. The drag knob and anti reverse switch appear to be slightly off white. There is a faint hint of pipe tobacco smell to the box. The"old-timer" must have enjoyed a pipe while he puttered with his tackle during the winter months. This is a solid combination for this reel. Very tough to find the complete package. I am guessing that it is a Cardinal 3 or 4, but cannot say for sure. This reel shows a good amount of wear. It is also missing the handle. As far as I can tell without a handle, this reel works. Besides the 1974 serial number. This reel has all the requirements for a first model: the trapezoidal knob, the cone shaped bail end, and the indented plate logo on the cover plate. The reel has been cleaned inside and out, and the drag disks have been replaced with original parts. A spool arbor is included. I even took out the bearing and treated it with Hot Sauce oil. The reel is so smooth the handle seems to jump forward as you crank. It displays very well from one side but has rash on the other. As much as these are collectible, the beauty of these reeIs is in their use. This one has a good bail trip, perfect drag, andgood click/anti-reverse and could be the perfect user. Up for auction is a vintage Zebco Cardinal 3 spinning reel. The reel is cosmetically& functionally in excellent shape. In fact. The reel body has NO marks at all except one scuff where the reel foot attaches to the rod. The reel comes with its original box& manual. The serial number on the foot is 800400.
