This is the model with the half bail. It shows its age with some discoloration on the metal housing but doesn’t have any dents or cracks in either the metal or plastic. LIONEL CORPORATION USA VINTAGE BACHE BROWN SPINSTER SPINNING REEL NICE SHAPE!
For Buy it Now is a Bache Brown Spinster spinning reel. Made in the U.S.A. by the Lionel corporation, Airex division. This reel looks good, with some minor age related surface tarnish, but it is very clean and could polish up better. Unlike many of these the foot of this reel is complete and unbroken, also the thick black plastic housing is in fine shape and has no cracks. This reel feels well lubricated, and the unique half bail opens and flips back crisply. The anti reverse works properly and has a nice clear clicking sound, and the drag seems to work fine. This reel should be ready to use, but I would replace the old line, with your own. This is a nice vintage collectable reel. Sold with PayPal only.

One 1940s VINTAGE BACHE BROWN SPINSTER REEL MADE BY AIREX DIV. OF LIONEL CORP.Reel is in excellent condition. With no dents, and no obvious flaws. All pieces are intact and in good working order. I have not cleaned it, so it looks less impressive than it should, but this is not my specialty and decided to leave it to an expert. Line is still on reel.

Vintage Airex Spinster- Bache Brown Model 4 Half Bail Spinning Reel- Lionel Corp
Vintage Airex Spinster Model 4'Half Bail' Spinning Reel. In the late 40's. Airex was purchased by the Lionel Corporation(toy trains) and these are early examples of made in USA'fixed spool' or spinning reels. Everything seems to work on this reel, anti-reverse and drag both work and half-bail system works fine. Reels smoothly and without wobble. Aluminum frame and rotor- does make some noise when reeling but does not sound like gear noise(metallic sound of the rotor/spool I believe) No damage to handle or knob. The drag on the reel tends to stay tight if you adjust the tension up, I think it's the old rubber washer on the drag that has gotten hard with age but it seems to works just fine other than that. Vintage Bache Brown Spinster Fishing Reel Apex Lionel Corp Spinning Reel AS IS
Up for bid is a vintage Bache Brown Spinster Half Bail Fishing reel that is marked as being produced by Apex Div of the Lionel Corp. This reel definitely looks like it has seen better days. I gave it a good wipe down with a damp paper towel. But it needs more detailed cleaning to make a nice display item. This is a black half bail model called the Spinster. When you reel it. It feels like it needs to be taken apart and cleaned inside and out. It's kind of sticky and gritty, less than smooth feeling, to the reeling motion. The selector knob below the handle doesn't seem to want to flip either direction. I know it did the first time I tried it and now it doesn't seem to want to and has some wiggle to it. Overall this reel either needs a good detail clean and some repair or would likely make a good parts reel, or a neat display item ... moreif you're just looking for vintage fishing art. THE ONLY ISSUE IS THE REVERSE ANTI-LOCK DOESNT WORK, AND THE CORNER OF THE REEL SEAT IS CHIPPED OFF ON EITHER END ON ONE SIDE. MAYBE IT WAS PURPOSELY CHIPPED THAT WAY TO FIT SOMEONE'S ROD. Has a thicker green line on it. I believe it works and is in really good shape. It has definitely been used but is still in really good condition. The second is a South Bend Spin Cast number 1400. I don't really want to take it apart because I am not that good at getting them back together. I believe it works good. It has something like old tape residue on the top part.
