A painted red& white wood bobber, a little wood-string winder? and a tin dish with hooks and weights. CONDITION- Vintage. Used. Antique Heddon 5 ft 10" Split Bamboo Rod
Up for bid is an antique 1933-34 era Heddon split bamboo casting rod that measures 5ft.10inches complete with wooden velvet lined rod holder and bag. The rod is in very good to very fine condition The reel seat is stainless steel(I believe) with a brass threaded reel seat lock. The rod has 4 red glass or agate eyes and one for tip top. The reel seat is marked Heddon Made in USA Pat#1624052 The bottom section of rod measures 31 1/2" while the upper half is 39 1/2" Ferrules are tight and the rod has nice old varnish with nice patina. The wooden rod case measures 41" and is reddish brown in color and appears to be quarter sawn. It has velvet on both sides with pockets notched so that guides firmly lock into each side. There are 2 string ties tacked to frame top and bottom so that rod could be tied into the case. Ferrules are in nice condition showing some wear but are fully functional and have an audible POP when broke-down. Cork grip still dressed with it's patina finish from past years. All four sections are nice. No signs of any damage or repairs to the cane. The reel seat has a few marks and flaws from years of use but does secure the reel very well. Overall the varnish is nice condition, has some nicks and hook dings, some touch-up. Thread wraps are tight and in very nice condition. This is a full cased set. Model Americast made by the Weber Lifelike Fly Co. Stevens Point. Wisconsin, USA. Manufactured in 1941. The pictures speek for themselves. The rod is in very good condition, no wear or scratches as is the reel, all the manuals are present and the lures are optional and are included in the kit. The rod sleeve has some worn spots and a few holes. All in all it's a wonderful reminder of the past in the great outdoors.

Bamboo Ferrule Fly rod
Lightly used Bamboo ferruled Fly rod. I used this a couple times in the fall and in the winter months for steel head coming off lake huron into the tribs. Great rod no flaws. No glue marks no problems. I prefer making these now then ever. Last year and this year I have developed a proper taper for these rods so alot of time care and math went in to this. Because with these Bamboo ferrules its hard to just pluck an existing taper, say an old orvis or payne taper and make it into a Bamboo ferruled rod, action was intended for rods with a metal ferrule. Which ofcourse has a downside itself mainly it created a dead spot/ stiff spot above and below the metal ferrule thats where they break usually. But with the bamboo ferrules(B.F's) there is no dead spot, no metal/ transfer of energy between materials, So it is in all since the B.F rods act ... morein the same action as a one piece rod. with the great advantage of breaking down rather then trying to travel with a 6 or 7 foot one piece rod. But any how. With out giving away my tapers, i do have all other spec's for the rod, so here it is: 100% hand milled not by a machine, Hollow built construction. Blonde rod. The B.F's are hand milled out from the swells from the last station by hand( razorblade) to fit exact, no looseness of failier when fishing, I also pre waxed them. they fight very tight. On my taper there is a large increase of slope in the butt section with additional huge swells above the grip, for extra power and flashiness. Thread work is all 100% silk and in red with black frames, aditional the B.F's are clear wraps with a clockwise twist underneath the clear thread. i do this now to all my rods signature wise, and also because after several with the B.f's the same colour as the thread work I fount its just too much colour/ and more distracting as a solid colour) So with the clear its more natural and asteticly pleasing that does not distract too much. also on this there are intermediat wrapps between the guides as well. It's my pleasure to offer at auction a rather Scarce 1916-1918 HEDDON NO.10 5-1/2 FT. 2/2 SPLIT BAMBOO BAIT CASTING ROD WITH THE ORIGINAL CORRECTLY MARKED BAG& LABELED/STAMPED HEDDON ALUMINUM TUBE. These earlier WWI-era rods from James Heddon's Sons are becoming extremely hard to find, especially with the original extra tip sections. The No.10 was an original member of Heddon's 1909 rod lineup and was first introduced as the"Dowagiac $10.00 Rod" It would always be one of their higher-grade models and would sell continuously through 1932. Because this example is equipped with full agate guides(first equipped so in 1916) and comes with its original extra tip section(last supplied with these models in 1918) we know it was only built from 1916-1918. Rodshaft carries a virtually complete"Dowagiac" bass decal, ... morewhile the reel seat is stamped with the early"Heddon's Dowagiac- Pat. Dec.1'08" rod& reel logo. The 1908 patent was assigned to James Heddon for the locking band reel seat. Built of very high-grade Calcutta cane and comes equipped with extra tip section, full agate guides& tip tops, highest-grade German Silver ferrules, knurled winding check& buttcap, Heddon's patent locking-band reel seat and solid cork grip& foregrip made of 1/8" cork rings. The No.10 was always about heavy cosmetics, with highly ornamented& knurled hardware and very closely wound in three colors of silk, with a staggering 175 individual wraps. I've added a photo of the original listing from Heddon's 1918 catalog. Rod is in about Very Good+ original condition, showing overall wear. Bamboo is perfect, with no splits, cracks or delamination whatsoever. All three sections are the correct length. Original varnish has what appears to be a fairly recent overcoat. All guides, tip tops, ferrules(which pop nicely when separated) winding check and buttcap are in good shape. The cork grip and foregrip show the heaviest wear although they both remain very solid. You are bidding on Vintage Phillipson Pow'r Pak't 9’ 3 piece, 2 tip 5-5/8 oz. HCH Bamboo rod in excellent condition. Description: This is a 9' 3/2 rod weighing 5 5/8 ounces that is rated for a HCH or 7 weight line. Although many prefer it with a 6 weight. Rod is marked 29 and 9- 5 5/8 HCH directly above winding check- All sections are straight and full length. All wraps and hardware are original- Varnish is in excellent shape- The Grip is the only exception to an otherwise excellent condition rod. It has about three small chips in the cork. Please see detailed photos. Reel seat shows minimal wear- Comes with original cloth rod bag and original aluminum tube but I could not find the original cap so I fashioned up a replacement. This is a very versatile rod capable of handling large dry flies. Nymphs, streamers, sinking lines, high ... morewinds, big water, you name it. This auction is for the vintage HSB&CO Revonoc Split bamboo pack rod shown in the photos. This is a restoration project. It's missing some ferrules and guides. The ferrules that are there will need cleaning up to fit properly. The shafts are not equal in legnth(shown in photos) I see no signs of separation. The carring case is stiff and worn. This is a nice rod to restore as a collectable but not very practical for fishing. The handle and cork look to be in very good condition. What you see is what you get. Sold as is! Offered here is a very nice vintage Allcocks' English bamboo fly rod. The length is 9' There are 4 joints and 2 tops. The model number is 326. Called the popular rod and the rod number is A952. This rod is in excellent vintage condition and comes with its' original fabric rod sack, with makers' tag. The only issue with this rod is a missing tip top on the lighter of the two tops. Vintage split bamboo fly rod ca. 1963
My mother bought this fly rod in Dublin Ireland in July 1963. On a family trip. Each of us, Mom, Dad, my younger brother, and I bought matching rods. I used mine, Dad lost his, And this is my mother's. Idoubt she used it more than twice(she believed in bait casting) So this is a virtually unused vintage gem. A really neat feature of this rod is that you can use it either as a 96" fly rod( it throws a 6 weight line) see picture#4 or, by using the other tip it can be used as a 65" spinning rod. See the picure#1. This rod comes with an extra tip for the fly rod( sooner or later you will close a car door on the rod! and a black fabric rod sock.All the rod segments are shown in picture# 6. He wrote the book"The bamboo rod& how to build it" and here is one of his rods. And its a dandy. This rod is hexagonal and in exceptional, original condition with both tips. I think its had a reel on it. but if it was fished. I don't think so! This rod came to me from an estate of a non bamboo rod maker, its one of 9 different bamboo rods he aquired over the years. The butt section. Midsection, and one tip measure 30 11/16" The other tip is 30 10/16" all sections are very uniform. The stripping guide is red agate. There are no repairs of any kind anywhere on this rod. The cork is superb and very clean as seen in pictures. a high grade of cork as well. The varnish{finish} is in very good condition. It looks like walnut wood at the reel seat. All the metal pieces on this rod are shiny, clean, and show no corrosion, ... moreincluding the guides and tips. The ferrules are tight and the guides are tight. The wrappings are very nice with the acception of a tiny issue at the butt section ferrule as seen in pictures. Overall this rod is very"sweet. VERY RARE H.L. WEBSTER MODEL # 50 3-2 VINTAGE BAMBOO 8'4" FLY ROD VERY NICE COND
Up for auction is this vintage original condition H.L. Webster model# 50 8' 4" fly rod. This original condition fly rod has been in hiding for many years and now is going to be sold. Put together it is a very nice soft action rod but I do not know what weight line it uses nor how many ounces it is. It's overall condition I feel is pretty good. Alas it does have one{ 1} repaired tip section right above the ferrule, as seen in pictures. It is a very nice and professionally done repair. All guides are very tight with none bent. Missing or showing any corrosion. The ferrules are solid and mate together nicely. The cork looks to be a very nice grade showing no hook marks and moderate hand staining from use. The reel seat is excellent, works fine and is very well integrated into the rod design with wood in its structure, very pretty ... moreand nicely done. There is some varnish{finish} checking but the gloss is nice, and the chipping, nics, and scrapes are pretty negligible for a used rod like this. This really is a rod that would be hard not to use, its light, with a nice soft action and well constructed. The only set I see is in the non repaired tip and it's slight, the other 3 sections are very straight. This rod comes with what I believe to be it's original rod sock and tube. The butt section measures 33 15/16" as does the mid section. The non repaired tip is 34 1/16" and the repaired tip is 34" The identifying writng{signature} is excellent. The wrappings are somewhat plain in color but very tight and spaced properly. Well. Thats about it. Any questions please ask, I will do my best to answer them. South Bend Model#29 7 1/2' Fly Rod- MINT! This early two-piece South Bend#29 fly rod is in fantastic original condition and com es in it's original. Correctly marked sock. All original varnish, wraps, ferrules, cork- even the decal is unscathed- and straight as a die with both lengths measuring the same. Looks like it was barely. If ever fished. South Bend's numbering system can be somewhat confusing. But there was some logic to it. The rod model numbers are important for determining the"action" of the rod. South Bend didn't refer to"tapers" in their catalog- probably decided that saying"action" of the rod would mean more to anglers. Each rod"grade" or"quality level" was made in three actions; Wet Fly. Or"Trout" A ction. Bass Action. And Dry Fly Action. These are ... moreSouth Bends' terms) The model number designates the grade or quality and the series number represents the type of action. For example. 159 is Trout Action, 59 is Bass Action, and#359 is Dry Fly Action. All of these models have the same wraps, hardware, number of guides and other specifications- only the taper is different. Vintage "Grampus Kiraku" Split Bamboo Fly Rod - MINT
Up for auction: This is a very nice"Grampus"split bamboo fly and/or casting set in mint condition made by"Kiraku" Japan. There are five sections of which three are tips. The cork handle is in very good condition. The silver connectors are bright and shiny. The wrappings are all tight and in good condition. The only problem. If you call it that. There are no labels on the rod. The set is complete with vintage flies, Grampus Trade Mark Fishing, Kiraku Japan in original plastic wrap, Line winder and 5 wood bobbers which are also mint in original plastic wrap, line, and original letter from the Grampus Fishing Supply Co. FE Thomas Special Dry Fly Bamboo Fly rod with hang tag
Offered is an extremely nice FE Thomas Special Dry Fly Trout rod. It is 8' 2/2 configuration, swelled butt with cinnamon silk wraps. The original hang tag is attached to the sock. The butt cap is marked E31. Everything is straight and full length. This rod could be original but I suspect it might have been refinished at some point.if so, it is near perfect. The tube is original with ~ 80% label remaining. Ne reserve.

1930's Original"MONTAGUE" Split Bamboo 8.5 ft Fly Rod in Original Pouch and Tube- EXCELLENT SHAPE This Beauty is a 3 pc Split Bamboo Rod with an extra tip(4 pieces total) Each section is 34" long. It was Handmade in the 1930s. And comes in its Original Pouch and Black leatherette Carrier Tube. There is an inscription that says"Holmes Special" just above the grip and a"Montague" logo above it. It's in almost mint condition and looks like it's never been used. I have put some pics that I found on the internet(my camera is broke) But none were in good enough shape to show the real condition. The last pic is the closest but the cork has more wear than mine. THE PICTURES ARE NOT ORIGINALS but gives the closest liking of it. Mid Section: Both line guides are present but look home made and the winding is not expertly done. Both ferrules are in good condition. Tip Section: Two of the three line guides and the terminal end appear original to the rod are in good condition with tight windings. The third line guide appears home made with poor winding. This old Dave Cook's Tarryall split bamboo fly rod is really outstanding. As can be seen in the pictures. The original guides and eyes are all present. The rod is perfectly straight, the bamboo is tight and the rod shows little evidence of use. The handle appears to be made of black walnut wood. The total length is 8 foot 8 1/2 inches. The butt and middle sections are 35 inches and the tip section is 34.5 inches. The old rod holder in the photo comes with it. The rod weighs 6.3 ounces. Priority Mail postage in the US is $15.
