This is a Scott 2 piece graphite fly rod model G1008. It is 10’ in length weighs 4.0 oz. and is balanced beautifully with a#8 fly line. I had the rod made by Scott Rod Co. While they were still making rods in San Francisco. It is in immaculate condition with the exception of a minor scuffmark on the real seat ring, which could be remedied with some touchup paint. It is still in the original rod sock and tube.

Scott Fly rod 3 Wt, 6'10", 3 Piece G703/3MMT
Harry Murray of Edinburgh. VA has worked with Scott for many years to fashion rods that suit the needs of certain fishing situations. This rod is designated as the MMT(Murray's Mountain Trout) for fishing in small streams with lots of cover. It is superb at this function. Casts wonderfully with only a couple of feet of line beyond the tip. If all I am going to do is make 10 to 15 foot casts, I use a WF4 line, for longer casts a DT3 is perfect. If you fish the kind of streams it was designed for, you will love this rod. It is my second rod of this model and it just doesn't get much use. It is essentially a new rod.

The rod was purchased from Cabelas for a Fly Fishing Class I signed up for at the local community college.Schoolcraft College. It was only ever used in the gymnasium by me! I thought I would take it up fly fishing but never did. Time to face reality, I'm a walleye spinning reel guy. The fly rod has sat in my closet for way too long, years! This looks like new, absolutely no signs of wear on the rod. Any slight color variations on the photos is due to the flash centered when taking the photos. Vintage Scott Fly Rod 2 piece 9 foot 6 weight
Your are bidding on a vintage Scott graphite fly rod for sale by the original owner who purchased it in the late 1980s. This 2 piece 3 1/2 ounce rod is perfect for drift boat fishing. Big rivers and lakes. As you can see, the tip top and the ferrules are quite nice. The wraps are still shiney. The overall condition is very good save for one barely noticeable flaw. Inspection reveals one foot on the hook keeper is out of its wrap. So it's currently held firmly in place(see picture) with black tape. I'm told this is not unusual for vintage Scotts. A friend also owns a Scott rod from this period and his hook keeper has done the same thing and is being held in place the same way. Otherwise there are just a few tiny scrapes on the rod totally consistent with its age(approximately 25 years old) Original cloth rod sleeve and original rod ... moretube included.

Superb Vintage Antique Scott PowRply Graphite 2-Piece Fly Rod Model G958. This famous G-series rod was built in the 1970’s at the original San Francisco plant. It is in new condition. With no dings or scrapes or scratches on any kind anywhere on the rod or handle. The markings on the rod are hand-written, and they are: 9.5’ 8 Line” Under that is“3 ½ oz.G958∙15∙8794” On the opposite side is“Harry Langston” The writing on the rod appears to have been done by Harry Wilson, who founded the company in 1974. The rod is brown in color and has the internal ferrules, which indicate it was made between 1978 and 1981, appropriate for serial number 8794. The soft sock is divided into two parts so that the rod’s 2 pieces are separated when the rod is slipped into the factory tube case. If you fly fish for Steelhead then you know what you're looking at. This is Scott's legendary 4.1 oz. 9'5" 7 weight G-series rod. Great balance and sensitivity for drifting eggs and nymphs through deep runs. Just the right softness to turn over a weighted rig on a longer cast, yet the backbone to bring 10 lb. steelie quickly to hand. I tried quite a few newer rods from Scott, Sage, and St. Croix in a quest to find a more versatile better performing rod and never did. This rod is just as happy punching hopper imitations out to smallmouth on larger rivers, as well. Used. But well cared for and showing no signs of wear other than a mark on the reel seat insert that only shows up when held to the light.
