Structurally, it is almost the same as a Hardy Marquis 7 Disc reel. It has a 3 5/8 in. spool diameter, with a 3/4 in. inner width, and a total weight of 5.6 oz. The reel is rated for 6 and 7 weight fly lines. It has an offset-gear disc drag system, with a spring supported steel pawl that produces a sweet clicker sound similar to a spring and pawl reel. This reel has had a new drum piece replaced by a retired ... moremaster reel craftsman from England that used to work for Hardy Bros. It has two large ebonite tapered handles and a brass ribbed foot which is attached to the frame with four brass screws. This reel also has an on/off casting/ratchet lever located on the side of the frame and a knurled drag adjustment knob located in the center of the drum. It is mechanically sound throughout and the drum spins very freely and true. Hardy’s name. Reel name and patent number 24245 is stamped on the back of the cage. In addition. There is an oval silver plate attached to the back of the reel with the inscription“Made For Manton and Co. Calcutta” Circa mid 1930’s making this reel approximately 75 years old! All of the mechanical and functional aspects are in very good condition and the reel feels and sounds very smooth. There are no bent or warped parts. There are some abrasions and scratches on this item(as shown in pictures) Someone has scratched their initials(NFM" NFFM" and what looks like"VIFF" into 3 interior sections on the reel(not visible when reel is operationally assembled) and 2 exterior areas(where it is mostly visible under the right light) Please refer ... moreto the pictures(I have documented these 5 areas) The black paint on the interior of the spool is worn and there are several scratches including one of the initialed areas(refer to photo) The top of the drag adjustment knob has 2 small nicks. The other 2 interior areas where the initials occur are approximately 1 inch from the exposed bearings on both sides of the body of the reel. The interior spool side is where it appears to have the"VIFF" There is also the outline of what appears to be some sticker that has fallen off(located next to the exposed bearings in photo) The final areas are on the exterior front and back face of the reel and I did not notice them until I had the reel under the perfect light(I owned this reel for years without seeing this) Also. There is an abrasion on the frame at the bottom of the reel(next to the bottom post) If you are considering buying this reel then you are most likely a serious angler and or collector so please study ALL pictures very closely with the zoom function. Up for action is an Ultra Rare Hardy All Brass Perfect measuring 2 5/8" in diameter. This size is actually referred to as the"Houghton" Dry Fly reel made for the elite Houghton Fishing Club who's members included Royals and Aristocrats sporting trout on the famed Thames River. England during the early 1890's. The reel is in near excellent but uncleaned condition as pictured, with no cracks anywhere. The reel's action is silky smooth with a strong click and adjustable drag with a creamy butter handle. Please take note that the center screw has broken off(as pictured) but can be easily repaired. The reel case is NOT included in the bidding.

Reel is in good condition with faded finish, rim wear and other obvious indication one would expect to find on a used reel of this vintage. No case. Rare? Vintage Shakespeare Steelhead Trout Reel 1900 Model HE Hardy Quality NR! This is a very nice. And I think rare, high quality made Shakespeare Steelhead Trout Reel 1900 Model HE. It measures a little over 3 1/2" across in diameter, and about 1 1/4" deep. This is a very fine made reel, and was made as a direct answer to the Hardy reels made in England at the time, but proved to be too costly to produce, so not many were made. Usually you see the 1899 model, but this is a 1900, possibly a larger model, and the only one I have seen. Mechanically and cosmetically it is in wonderful condition, everything seems to function with no issues. The spool is a black color, and the frame has a nice dark brown. I have not cleaned or oiled it, seems to have been fairly well kept. The only thing I notice is a slightly rippled area on the edge ... moreof the frame on the handle side, possibly from a drop at some time, but does not effect the function at all, not touching edge of spool, it turns freely, just want to mention for accuracy, this is a really nice reel. H ardy Bros. Featherweight Fly Reel with Suede Case- An original vintage aluminum alloy Lightweight Series reel made by Hardy Bros. In Ainwick, England in the 1960's, and not a contemporary reproduction manufactured in Asia. It measures 2-7/8" diameter, 1" wide and weighs 3 oz. with a usable 50 yards of backing on reel. Left hand wind reversible to right hand wind easily. Adjustable drag with the famous Hardy click. In perfect working condition. A genuine usable collectible. The Featherweight was the second smallest of the Lightweight Series Reels that Hardy made. This early original Hardy model has two screws instead on one on the line guide. Which is reversible when switching to right hand wind. The engraving on it reads: BRIT. REGD. DESIGN 895921. There are no dents or issues. The reel seat is solid without any give. Although this reel is used. Its in good shape for its age. There are nicks in the finish, that have some rust in them, but the overall integrity of the reel is intact and great. On the body, on the part that connects the reel to the rod is scratched and shows some minimal rust, but again, this doesn't affect the integrity of the reel. The action is tight and all options seem to be fully operational.

Here is an old Vintage Hardy Marquis No 2 Salmon fly reel it is loaded with a Hardy double taper floating weight 11 fly line. The reel is approx 4ins in Dia by 1 1/2 ins wide it has the full metal check inside and not the plastic one and has a ribbed brass foot in good working condition although there is paint loss to the reel especially the rim as this is usual for these vintage reels. A great reel for next season which is just around the corner.
