Later came the#1 and#2, then eventually a really cheap painted-blue version. Built of solid brass and steel and all gear driven. The wooden handle is perfect and turns nicely with no tight spots. This little girl was built for winding the bobbin in the wooden shuttles for the old looming machines. What’s neat about this is it may be almost 100 years old but it’s compatible with many of today’s plastic bobbins such as the popular Schacht brand. The fine craft of weaving is alive in today’s culture. Rather than buying a wobbly wooden version run by a rubber belt. Now is your chance to own an original. Antique Industrial Sewing Machine BOBBIN WINDER? auto knitter winding device
I think this is some sort of bobbin or thread spool winder but don't know for sure. The first photo shows the tool in the upright position and as it would look when clamped to a bench edge. The second photo shows it turned around but still in the upright position. It has no maker's mark or patent number. It is made to have a belt that goes around both wheels. The large hand-wheel; the handle on the hand wheel; and the small wheel that the hand wheel drives, all three turn easily. I don't think there are any missing parts. The piece has paint loss and rust in places but works fine mechanically and has no cracks or chips. The clamp will fit any benchtop 1" thick or less and the threaded clamp bolt turns easily. The arbor that the bobbin or spool goes on is tapered and measures 11/32" in diameter at the tip and 13/32" ... morein diameter at the other end. 2 Large vintage wooden thread spools. These are industrial textile sized spools. With brass caps on each end. They measure about 9" tall and the tops measure about 2.25" diameter acro ss. The bottoms measure about 2.75" across. The condition is pretty good but not perfect. The bo ttom pieces of each spool broke though it looks like the brass cap is holding it together nicely.

From Lancaster County. PA, home of the Amish& Mennonite communities, this is a large(10-1/2" tall) spool with 2 bobbins that fit into the holder. The bobbins are 9-3/4' tall with metal round rings on the bottom. The baby blue cotton is a slightly heavier ply than the emeral green cotton. Neither appear to have been used. The spool is made out of what I believe to be Tiger Maple based upon the pattern of the wood. It has a gorgeous pattina and pattern and would make a great free standing decorative piece. A fine grouping of 3 floral needle lace runners in an ecru color. They are in excellent condition. Freshly laundered and gently ironed. There may be a couple of broken brides but absolutely nothing major. These were crafted using all cotton thread. The largest measures 40x13" The mid-size is 30 x 13" and the smallest 17.5 x 12" You won't be disappointed with this beautiful grouping. Its my thoughts that this was made in the first half of the 20th century. Not sure if they were made in Italy or elsewhere.I'm not that experienced when it comes to identifying linens.
