For auction is an Anderson Custom Rod 9' 6 wt EPL 4-piece fly rod. This 6wt ACR features a blue colored blank. Dark blue and silver thread wraps, and an aluminum reel seat with a wood insert. This rod is in excellent condition and appears to have been fished only a couple times. The cork. Blank and all components are near perfect. There is one tiny scuff in the tip section. This is a smooth casting. Medium flex rod ideal when casting dry flies and technical nymphing with light tippet. It will be at home on any trout river in the Western States. South America, or Alaska. For sale at a buy it now fixed price is this very hard to find fiberglass fly fishing rod. Made to compete with the smuggler rods of the time it is a 4 piece 7 foot rod. It is a custom rod made by Don Russell Custom Rods of Arvada(a suburb of Denver) back in the day. Like many of their rods this was made with components from local rod makers at the time. I believe that this is a Phillipson blank with a Phillipson reel seat. Custom wraps, and the very high end ferrules that use rubber o rings for a secure fit. With the custom wraps and snake river eyes this is a very attractive rod. It comes the way we got it.in a modern Cabellas Stowaway rigid tube covered with water resistant cordura and the rod sack that went with it. Both are a perfect fit for the rod. Like most custom rods. And in fact most Phillipson rods the appropriate fly line to ... moreuse is not marked on the rod. In my backyard I can throw a WF-4-F with the rod but I can tell that it is not the appropriate line. However, both the WF-5-F and the WF-6-F lay out wonderfully with this rod. Condition is used. There is a little wear on the case but not much. The rod itself is in terrific condition.no repairs. 2 Vintage Bamboo Fly Fishing Rods With Metal Tube
You are bidding on 2 Vintage Bamboo Fly Fishing Rods with one being a complete three piece rod and the other being a four piece rod(two tips) BUT IS MISSING THE BUTT SECTION, so this rod is incomplete. The three piece rod has a decent appearance with a light mark/stain/scratch(scratch is mostly on the butt section near the handle) All three pieces are equal length(35 and 1/8 inches long) The butt and mid section ferrule fit together nicely, but the mid and tip ferrule connection is a little tight, i.e. insertion of the male tip ferrule is only about 1/4 inch deep, but could be inserted up to one inch deep if it could be inserted all the way. The butt and mid sections on the three piece rod are decently straight with a little curvature. The tip section on this rod has a bend in the middle, something commonly seen on these bamboo rods. The ... morerod currently has 8 functioning guides and wraps counting the tip guide(which is just a little off center from the other guides) but should have eleven guides(the butt guide and the first guide on the mid section are missing and the last guide on the mid section is broken) The rod missing the butt section consists of one mid section(32 and 3/8 inches long) and two tip sections(both 32 inches long) All three pieces are from the same rod and do not appear to have been broken and all have a very decent appearance. Tip and mid section ferrules fit together nicely. The only thing I can find wrong with this rod(other than not having the butt section) is that the thread just above the male ferrule on one of the tip sections is just starting to come unwound a little. There are 2 line guides and wraps on the mid section and 4 line guides and wraps on each tip section. The metal tube that comes with these rods shows a few marks/stains/scratches, typical for a metal protective tube. This auction is for the SIX pieces of bamboo fishing rods. This old fly rod fishing rod lot includes 6 pieces of split bamboo fishing rods. The old fishing rod lot has THREE Cork handles. One Middle section and Two bamboo tips. The old fishing lure or old fishing rod collector may be able to put these to use with using the wire guides, cork handles or maybe the wood parts of the old rods? I am not sure if these used to be Heddon fly rods fishing rods or what? The old wood fishing rods have no markings on them. The three bottom sections of the old fly rod pieces do have cork handles. An exceptional lot of vintage(50/50 used/new) fly fishing tackle including 5-classic rods(2-are split cane, one of which is a restoration project) and 3 are fiberglass, none of which look as if they've ever seen the water. There is an 8'6" Heddon No.968 2-pc Progressive Tapered"Global" 7-Wgt(it's not marked but has the"feel" of a 7-wgt. with tight wraps and a protective flannel bag and PVC tube. The 2nd rod is a custom crafted 8'0" 2-pc yellow Fenwick blank with aluminum o-ring ferrules, cigar-style cork grip, anodized aluminum D.L. reel seat with a fitted walnut insert. My educated guess is 5/6 weight and it's in a Fenwick green nylon bag and stout Fenwick HMG aluminum protective tube. The 3rd rod is a true classic from Wright-McGill, the all-popular"Sweetheart" ... morewith yellow wraps on the iconic yellow Eagle Claw blank, an 8'6" 2-piece 7-wgt beauty. It has no sock or tube but fits in the HMG tube with the yellow Fenwick. One of the split cane rods is an import from Japan in stellar shape and sporting the Danielson moniker. The threaded aluminum part that holds the reel is slightly loose, the cork shows some dirt and use, all the eyelets are good. The Heddon comes in an aluminum tube with a lid. 4 sections wrapped in a nice cloth cover. Looks like the bottom section has a bakelite rod holder, middle section and two tips sections. The AL 7/8 is fully machined from bar stock aircraft aluminum. And anodized a bright gold finish. It has a wide large arbored spool, with a center disc drag that has a star drag adjustment wheel. The listed diameter is 3.5 in. with a weight of 8.5 oz. It holds about 200 yards of 20 lb. backing with a WF8F line. The reel shows normal finish wear. But still looks good. Retrieve is smooth, with a still strong drag. It is spooled with backing and an unknown 8 or 9 wt. floating, weight forward taper line. Line shows some wear, but still looks usable. VINTAGE TURNER BROS. 2 PC FISHING ROD TUBE CASE FLY SPIN BAITCAST RODS - NICE!!
This auction is for a rare early Turner Bros. Telescoping 2-Piece Fishing Rod Tube complete with Locking Metal Push Button Cap and Original Paper Label in excellent condition. I believe this one dates to the 1930’s-1940’s and is constructed of a hard fiber material with metal caps on both ends. Has a brown/ maroon color, the paper tag reads“Turner Bros. Wellington Ohio Fine Protection For Fishing Rods” measures approximately 49” long when completely closed, the short section measures 2 ¼” outside diameter and the long section measures 2” outside diameter, when completely opened it extends to approximately 76” long before the two pieces separate and it actually creates a vacuum as you close so you can adjust length. This is a great early fishing collectible a neat one to protect your vintage bamboo fly, spinning or bait cast rods. The longer rod in this lot has a 50" longest section. The short rod is only 38" at it's longest. There is some tarnish to the metal sections. Both rods have spare tips and are in excellent condition.
