Here is a vintage. Probably dating from the 1930's to 1950's Fly Tying Kit and is hard to find with so many pieces still in the box.There are approx. 20 items in the box. Some are still attached to the box and some have been opened. There is also a printed instruction information catalog. The box measures approx. 14" x 9 1/2" I have taken lots of pictures so please ask questions before bidding as there are many different types of flies and pieces to this group. The box itself is in good to fair condition, wonderful graphics. Bidding on a vintage Hank Roberts Fly Tying Kit. Boulder. Colorado, 1965. Includes 13 packages of feathers; a spool of thread and a card of tying thread; 3 packages of yarn, thread and pipecleaners; a small container of hooks and the fly tying tool. Also included is a booklet, The Art of Fly Tying, printed in 1965 from an original publication of 1936. Kit appears to be complete, but may be missing a packet or two. Cover of the box features a Trout Print by Lyndle Dunn. Box is good, cover has 3 split corners and some price sticker residue, and a couple of taping issues on edges. Overall good condition. Fly Tying JACKPOT!!! Huge Flytying Kit with EVERYTHING!!!
I have built this Fly Tying box up over 25 years so I don't even know where to start. I guess just imagine walking into your local fly shop and saying give me everything you have. And two or three of some things. And you'd walk out with about 3 grocery bags and over $1000 dollars in flytying hardware and materials; but I know I've spent more than that on it. So where to start again, my Grandpa helped me build the custom box, it's 18"x30"x5" It has plexiglass plates for dividers and slots milled so you can rearrange the size of your compartments. It has bifold open top doors and a wood vise attachment that levels the tying table so you can be tying off your tailgate as easily as in your den. It also locks, which isn't that important unless you're in flytying class in high school where guys were lifting ... moreyour materials. That brings up another point, my flytying teacher was a taxidermist; so there is a lot of real choice material that he gave me. Anyway, its a real nice solid box that doubles as your tying platform and vise holder. Now the vise is a classic Thompson but it gets the job done. As you can see its got a yarn/chenille/thread/mohair/material manager bolted on. I have found it simplifies things immensely. Now hooks, most all Mustad, there are more than 1000 hooks, probably more like 1500. Every size and shape micro up to salmon hooks, none the cheap ones. Tons of thread, lead, dubbing material, yarn, turky, chenille, flashabou, hares mask, kip tail, deer, elk, antelope, peacock, fur, feathers, maribou, the list goes on, see all those packages stacked in the back of the photos, it's all there. Tools: Every tool a flytier accumulates over 25 years, 2 of a lot of the tools, email me if you want to know if it's included, I can answer now: Yes. Hi there. This is a used fly tying kit. Comes with a ton of hooks. Wire, string, feathers, etc, and it has a vise for tying the flys with a clamp, scissors, some strange looking wax blocks and a bunch of other tools for making flys like hooked tools, super tiny pincers, and so on. Also has a bottle that's 3/4 filled with some kind of varnish. There's also a little tin box which has plastic-covered compartments with super tiny flys and materiel in it for crafting even smaller flys(I suppose) I know nothing about this stuff whatsoever, I don't know the brands of anything, or the condition of what this stuff is supposed to be in- so please don't ask me. I found this kit while cleaning out my basement, not even sure where it came from. The outside of the box itself is in fine condition- no dents or big scratches, definitely not ... moreworn out, the buckle holding it closed is still tough and solid, overall it is a very sturdy and durable tackle box, should be used for years and years to come. The entire box is a tad heavy. So shipping is gonna be the bulk of the cost of this. I'll pack it carefully and ship it by Canada Post Medium Parcel Air. Rare Ned Grey's Fly Tying Kit. Circa 1953! This is a terrific vintage Ned Grey Fly Tying Kit that was produced in 1953. Kit is in very good condition with most of the components still in evidence. Some of the materials are missing. Including tie vise, cement, and thread wax, but these components can be easily added to complete the kit. All other components are here and undisturbed, still fastened in the original box, as can be seen in the photos. Please examine the photos carefully to see the components included. There is a large selection of colorful feathers and other materials, fly tying hooks, tying threads, as well as simplified fly tying instructions and fly pattern charts.
