Hardened and tempered tool steel jaws hold hooks, from size 2(depending on exact hook wire diameter) down to the smallest you can buy, securely. All adjustments are accomplished with minimal effort. Choose either the large stable base that will hold this vise where you set it, and the non-marking feet protect the surface you set it on. The steel base is powder coated in white, for a surface that will stand up and provide a backdrop you can see your materials against. VINTAGE ? HERTER FLY TYING VISE ON A STAND
Up for bid is a Herters fly tying vise on a stand.I really know nothing about it except it was in my father-in-laws garage in Montana.I will describe it the best I can! If you look on the bottom where the green felt is,that is not rust,it is the glue that was used to put the felt on with. My son-in-law said it does work.The long rod is 12" long and can be removed from the base,there is a little screw handle thing that tightens it up when in the base.The chrome seems to be in excellent shape,I have not cleaned it. The base is 4 1/2" by 4 1/2" and I really don't know what metal the base is made out of. If you need more pictures feel free to ask I try to keep my shipping as low as possible,with the box and vise it does weigh 2 lbs 5oz. If shipping is less due to your zip code I do reimburse the diff.

It is made of hardened steel. Cast iron and brass, no plastic. H& H Co. calls it the Super ll Rotating Vice and sells for around 20 dollars plus shipping which I think is a bargain. I have owned the vise for a number of years and have never really gotten into fly tying as I thought I would. This should belong to a collector or tyer.
