Professional Fly Tying Kit-Antique Made in 1951
This kit was made for the guy that needs to tie flys as the hatch is happening. Or see whats hot that day and tie them in the garage for the next day. It is packed full of everything you could possibly need. There is two clamps and other tools in the box. I had it appraised at three differant shops in Denver and the value of the material alone was between $800 and $1200 in todays market. I aquired this kit in a storage auction about 20 years ago. There were some bamboo rods that were hand made by Phillipson from Ft. Collins. Colorado. The date on the rods was 1951. Sorry I do not have the rods. There was a stamp inside the box and I called the number and was told these kits were made for fishermen that wrote articles for magazines and newspapers.

It is a boxed kit with a vice, a spool of thread and a small bag of hooks that has been opened. There are also a number of packs of materials most of which have not been opened. They include Chenille, Wool, Silk, Peacock, Wax(a bit of leakage) Fancy Quills, Turkey Tails, Neck Hackle, Duck Quills, and Fancy Feathers. There is also a dried up glass bottle of Head Cement. And a yellow tin of Fly Line Cleaner that looks a bit corrosive and I have not tried to open it up. Otherwise everything seems to be in good usable condition. This is a used Regal vise that is probably 10 years old. It has not been used very much. And not in at least 7 years. After looking online and talking to Fly fishing experts the vise appears to be the model RC-4. It is in great condition. along with the vise I am including some leftover hooks: 3X long size 12 stonefly/nymph, size 14 dry, size 16 dry, Orvis size 12 shrimp/caddis nymph, size 14 scud, size 2 3x long nymph. There is 16 of them. they were cut off the wing so they are 95% of the feather the bottom is missing exactly as pictured.there is also a couple of the small iridescent wing feathers included as well as pictured. We then have 2 bags full of malard flank or plumage whatever you want to call it. 1 bag of plumage off the neck which is the brown feathers. 1 bag of pure white plumage off the bottom of a goldeneye as white as it gets. The feathers that have the nice black and white stripped pattern are off a golden eye.ther is a bag of longer feathers off a malard drake right behind the wings- gives you the dotted pattern of there plumage but on darker feathers.2 perfectly curled tail feathers. Time to clean out the fly tying cabinet so my kids won't have to do it for me. I'll describe the tools and materials photograph by photograph. Photograph 1: tools. The vise on the left is a an old Herter's I bought from them over a half-century ago; I've had a number of vises since then. But always was fond of this one. Probably as much of a collector's item now as a working vise. The vise on the left also is a old Herter's(if I remember correctly) The two leftmost rows also have 8 bobbins of various size, a couple of pair of hackle pliers, and a lacquer jar with bodkin.
