This is a Loomis IMX Custom Fly Rod. It is made in USA. And is a 9-1/2 foot 4-piece rod for 8 weight line. It is a custom rod using Powell hardware with removable extension butt on the reel seat. Rod is used but in very good to excellent condition, and includes padded rod bag and Loomis rod case as shown in photos. This rod's action is fast. It's a great rod for windy conditions on the flats. Maybe cosmic justice from when I used to keep fish. maxed out my quota for this lifetime while salmon fishing in Alaska during college. idk. Whatever the reason. Here I am and will be for at least 2 years. After that, maybe I won't be in a place quite like Alaska still, maybe it will be some kind of purgatory. I found that it cast more accurately and with better feel than my brand new Sage ONE which cost almost twice the price of the St. Croix, and which I immediately sold. St. Croix makes a good rod. HI And away goes my second fly rod for Tarpon. Another Sage 1290-3 RPLX-i. This one a bit more used than the first. Comes with original rod tube and sock. This solid Sage has signs of slight boat rash in places, all very light and not only cosmetic, but not really visible till you look for it. In no way is the rod affected by the marks. Cork handle and fighting grip are in fine shape, as is the reel seat section. Plenty of hard fighting life left in it. I know as soon as it sells I will get the opportunity to throw flies at some tarpon, so I really hate to see it go, it is my last 12wt rod and only one big reel left, too. Very well-cared for by its previous owner and seemingly seldom if ever fished. This smooth yet powerful two-hander shows virtually no noteworthy signs of cosmetic wear or tear that one might fear or expect in a rod of this vintage. As evidenced in the photos. The upper and lower cork grips show no hint staining from previous handling, and remain remarkably free from of any major chips, gouges, or excessive missing fill. While not pristine perhaps as it once was new. The sturdy up-locking reel seat still looks great and still functions perfectly too. A close review of the rod's matte-black blank from tip to butt reveals no signs of catastrophic abuse like deep scratches. Scores, or penetrating nicks that would in any way hint the rod's original strength or integrity as compromised. A close inspection of the rod's guides reveals no trace of tarnish. Rusting or oxidization present, with no grooving, deformation, or misalignment present either. A quick test-assembly and deep flexing of the rod confirms all ferrules as still tight-fitting. With no wobble, twisting, looseness or other signs of obvious distress recognized. Still in excellent shape

That you must be aware of. The largest fly guide needs replacing. The guide metal is cracked and the ceramic will fall out, and is barely in place. This is one of the original GLoomis rods in the GL3 series from the 1980's. I bought it new when they first came out. It could be used for backpacking as it breaks down and fits into a 30" tube for carry or travel.
