All of the mechanical and functional aspects are in very good condition and the reel feels and sounds very smooth. There are no bent or warped parts. There are some abrasions and scratches on this item(as shown in pictures) Someone has scratched their initials(NFM" NFFM" and what looks like"VIFF" into 3 interior sections on the reel(not visible when reel is operationally assembled) and 2 exterior areas(where it is mostly visible under the right light) Please refer to the pictures(I have documented these 5 areas) The black paint on the interior of the spool is worn and there are several scratches including one of the initialed areas(refer to photo) The top of the drag adjustment knob has 2 small nicks. The other 2 interior areas where the initials occur are approximately 1 inch from the exposed bearings on both sides of the body of the reel. The interior spool side is where it appears to have the"VIFF" There is also the outline of what appears to be some sticker that has fallen off(located next to the exposed bearings in photo) The final areas are on the exterior front and back face of the reel and I did not notice them until I had the reel under the perfect light(I owned this reel for years without seeing this) Also. There is an abrasion on the frame at the bottom of the reel(next to the bottom post) If you are considering buying this reel then you are most likely a serious angler and or collector so please study ALL pictures very closely with the zoom function. But I believe it's been around for a while! The ... morereason I said VINTAGE in the listing is because the cursive/scroll writing on the reel looks different from the newer"Flyweight" reels from Hardy, but I really don't know for sure! Anyhow. The brand of this reel is HOUSE OF HARDY and it was made in England. It looks to be in excellent shape, which doesn't surprise me, as my father always kept everything in pristine condition! The reel says in cursive, Made by House of Hardy, England" and it also says, The Flyweight" There is a peach- coloured line wrapped around the reel. It comes with a blue. Vinyl-type zip case which also says House of Hardy on the top. It looks like there is a small piece of vinyl coming off from the case, near the back of the case, where the zipper begins. Please see photos! He also attached a little tag on the outside of the case and it says"2 WT" So, I'm not really sure what that means. Maybe the line is a 2 weight line? Inside the case is a little pamphlet/paperwork from House of Hardy that talks about how to care for your reel. Etc. My dad was a big fly-fisherman. He fished in rivers. Mostly in Connecticut, Maine and Montana. He'd be happy to know this was going to one of his fellow fly-fishermen! VINTAGE House of Hardy - THE FLYWEIGHT Fly Fishing Reel w/ case! Made in England
Hi there! Up for bidding is one of my fathers fishing reels. I'm not sure exactly how old it is. But I believe it's been around for a while! The reason I said VINTAGE in the listing is because the cursive/scroll writing on the reel looks different from the newer"Flyweight" reels from Hardy, but I really don't know for sure! Anyhow. The brand of this reel is HOUSE OF HARDY and it was made in England. It looks to be in excellent shape, which doesn't surprise me, as my father always kept everything in pristine condition! The reel says in cursive, Made by House of Hardy, England" and it also says, The Flyweight" There is a peach- coloured line wrapped around the reel. It comes with a blue. Vinyl-type zip case which also says House of Hardy on the top. It looks like there is a small piece of vinyl coming off ... morefrom the case, near the back of the case, where the zipper begins. Please see photos! He also attached a little tag on the outside of the case and it says"2 WT" So, I'm not really sure what that means. Maybe the line is a 2 weight line? Inside the case is a little pamphlet/paperwork from House of Hardy that talks about how to care for your reel. Etc. My dad was a big fly-fisherman. He fished in rivers. The reel has the letter"B" engraved in to the face plate and has the usual scratches and scuffs that you would expect from the years of use. I'm parting with my L.W. Holmes fly reel. A Hardy Perfect clone made in America in the late 1940s/early 1950s. It's a blue collar classic with polished rims, matte gray spool, brass accents, and a translucent plastic amber handle. There are few minor dings, but otherwise it's in very good cosmetic shape. Mechanically it works well, with some light spool play/wobble, which is typical of this model. Strong, distinctive click. The reel is 3" in diameter and made of aluminum. Wow. Up for auction Is this RARE Hardy Bros. 3 3/4" St George fly reel from Alnwick England. This is the rare 3 screw drum with ebonite handle and a really nice condition agate line loop that looks to have 4 small cracks. This model has the ribbed brass feet and the reel is marked J.S. for the famous Jimmy Smith who did Fly Reels from 1908 thru 1960 for hardy. This reel works great but there is a small repair done as seen in photos 6,7,8, but it does not affect the reel at all and it is a almost 80 years old. This is a must have for any collector and please ask questions the photos don't answer before the end of the sale and with payment being due 48 hours after winning! Clear, smokey grey agate line guide is faultless- no chips or cracks. Highly polished chromium-plated reel foot is dove-tailed and rivited into the reel frame. I would classify this reel as being in very good condition cosmetically with some typical rim wear, small scuffs/scrapes here and there and finish dulling, but relatively light compared to most used reels of this vintage. Mechanically the reel is very sound and tight- no spool wobble. Includes original Hardy blue and cream, zippered, padded reel case in reasonably good condition(PERFECT 3 3/8" printed in ball-point ink on side of case) and original Hardy instruction leaflet which reads in part: The'Perfect' Reel is made from high duty hiduminium alloy in three main parts- the line drum. Frame and revolving plate- the'Perfect' is machined to extremely close tolerances and is fitted with ball bearings which make it almost frictionless. The spool is perfect mechanically but there is 9mm x 2mm corrosion chip to the edge shown in photo(why oh why were reels left in damp places with wet line ... moreon? This has no effect on the working of the reel and could of course be restored if you wish. Also spare spools do come on the market occasionally and certainly more frequently than spare frames. The finish is worn but in keeping with its age. There are no serious scratches or dents. This reel could still be used(with a big rod to balance it) or it would look wonderful in a collection. Hardy St. George 3 3/8 inch w/original box. Excellent finish with intact original agate line guide. Has 3 paint blemishes but no rub marks or scratches of any kind. Spool has some paint loss on interior of the spool due to the oil on the silk line know to cause this due to long period of no use(Shown in last photo) Desirable unaltered ribbed brass foot and bushings. Ultra smooth reel with no play or wobble whatsoever. Original box has"3 3/8" ST. GEORGE" labels on side and top. All corners are in nice condition and the box. Overall, is in very good condition with original padding. Although this is a 2 screw latch 50's model, it is a very desireable reel for either collecting and or using. here is a fantastic bfp in what i can only say is in the best working order i have ever seen one of these reels. the spindle and cog i think may have been refitted by hardy at some point but this benefits the reel as its like new to use the. check works great. it has its original alloy foot that has the smallest of filling to one end. Up for auction from my personal collection is this Hardy' Uniqua' 4 inch Salmon Reel. A wonderful reel to use or a great item for the serious collector. This is truely an awesome fly reel and requires very little narrative! It is a Hardy classic made of quality materials. Reel will last you for as long as you like and will never let you down. here is a lovely 4 inch salmon perfect made by jimmy smith reel maker at hardy. the reel is in fantastic usable condition with chunky black handle. Ribbed brass foot, nice strong check no play or wobble on spindle, no line burns, as good as the day it was made mechanically ready for the new season. as you can see from the pics the reel is in great condition with only a tiny bit of pitting to one part of the frame this in no way makes a difference to the reels workings or looks. it has great patina and is a well sort after salmon reel Check out my!

The reel measures 2 9/16 inches across and has"The St. George Junior. Pat. No. 24245, 9261Size 3 3/8" Made By Hardy Bros. Ltd. Alnwick, England" impressed in to the back plate. The ribbed alloy foot has"Pat. No. 272409" impressed into the side, this is sturdy and well attached, as is the ebonite handle. The agate lined line guide appears to a replacement and there is a hairline crack across the rim by the line guide, however the reel is still solid and ... moresturdy, the rim regulator screw moves fine. The reel revolves well with a good smooth action and there is no play when the face plate is rocked. The three screw release latch works fine. The reel has the number"12" impressed in to the rear of the spool. The reel has the usual scratches and scuffs that you would expect from the years of use. 1940's Hardy Bros The "ST GEORGE" 3 inch Fly Reel Made in England w/ Suede Case
Here wehave a rare transitional Hardy Bros 3 inch"St George" Trout FlyReel. This is the Early 3 Screw Spool Model. Which is believed to have beenbuilt in the 1940's by Jack Johnstone, who based upon my information beganworking for Hardy Bros in 1938. Reasoning that the two screw latch was introducedin 1948, the reel was constructed sometime during this period. Also note thechange to the linear"St George" positioning on the rear platecombined with the solid nickel line guide, which I have been recently advised occurredtowards the end of WWII. Maybe a 1947 as I was advised from anotherknowledgeable collector. The Reel is in Very Good Used Condition with a largemajority of its original finish, with no dings or deep scratches, The Reel isAlloy with a Ribbed Brass Foot, 3 Screw Drum Latch, Nickel Silver Tension Screwand ... moreguide line, and an Ebonite Handle. vintage hardy featherweight fly reel 2 screw line guide rare
here is a rare hardy featherweight fly reel. As you can see from pics it has been stored badly but, the check is as good as the day it was made as i have tried it with the pawls in from another reel, there is a tiny chip out of the foot but this does not affect the reels workings at all, it has the 2 screw line guide, if you wanted to use this reel it would be perfect and would last forever all that lets it down is the tatty finish easily sorted with a rub down and respray. all it needs is the pawls to make it a nice working vintage reel Check out my!

Orvis cfo iv fly reel, this reel has been used but looks as if it was just out of the box, previously owned and cherished by a professional fly-fishing guide/ instructor, there is some minor, hardly noticable wear to the"finish" of the outer edge of the reel frame and not a blemish on the spool, its over 25 yrs old and is without doubt a beautiful specimen of a classic reel. Reel is 3 1/4 inches in diameter by 1 1/8 inches wide(excluding handle and drag knob) This is one of the first reels Hardy made from a very tough and extremely light cast magnesium alloy. The reel is remarkably light weighing a meer 2.8 ounces- roughly 30% less than comparable size Hardy reels cast from more traditional ... morealuminum alloy. Most suitable for 2 to 5 weight lines/rods. Reel can be fished with right or left hand retrieve by simply inverting the single click pawl. Minimal spool overrun and"drag" regulation may be applied via a plastic knob on the reverse which causes a circular hard neoprene encased steel spring to exert varying pressure on a single click pawl. Wonderful clicker sound. Reel is in excellent mechanical condition but can only be rated fair to good cosmetically due to surface rash here and there caused by the reel having been stored while it was still wet. Something to keep in mind when putting away fishing equipment even overnight but especially for the season! No case. Hardy Golden Prince 7/8wt fly reel For sale is one lovely old reel that I just do not use as much as I should. Cosmetic scratches and bumps as shown that are the battle scars of many a trout fight on rivers and lakes. The tune this reel sings is still as crisp as the day it was first used and there is absolutely no reason why this reel will not go on for a lifetime catching fish. One of the bricks of the House of Hardy range it has been a bread and butter reel for larger lakes and fish. It is now sadly time for me to part company and make way for an ever increasing shelf of reels. It is. Despite its used condition still a first class reel. The internal mechanics through to the line guard are in immaculate condition and ready for another half lifetime of use. Comes in original Hardy case.

here is a excellent 4 inch salmon perfect made by thomas appleby reel maker at hardy alnwick. This is a rare reel i presume as he did not make perfects as a rule, the reel is in fantastic usable condition as you can see from pics, no play or wobbles, great check and lovely patina, the mark on the spool side is from a sticker and will come of but i did not remove as it might ruin the patina. it is ready for a life time of salmon fishing or to collect, they dont come much better usable wise Check out my!

Hardy Ultralight 4000 DD Fly Reel
Cleaning out the closet and have a few reels up for sale. This is a Hardy Ultralight 4000 for 4-5wt large arbor reel. It's less than a year old and absolutely beautiful and in perfect conditions. I fished it last summer and I just got a good deal on a Perfect. So I'm upgrading. I'll leave the backing on there in case you want it. If the reel sells for 200 or a buy it now, I'll throw in a Rio LT 4 weight two tone trout line that I had on it. These are pretty stunning reels for the price point if you haven't seen them.
