2 7/8" Hardy Perfect fly reel, vintage - pre-war Mark II
2 7/8" Hardy Perfect Dup. Mark II with smooth brass foot. Right hand wind, no line guard. The roped knurling on the tension adjuster and circular winding plate stamps indicate a 1930's pre-WWII era build date. Most of the lead finish is gone, leaving a nice pewter gray patina. Reel is in excellent condition. Absolutely tight as a drum and smooth as silk, an 8X reel for sure! No issues whatsoever, everything is as tight as the day it was made. Has an oh-so-sweet butter smooth sounding click, it's going to sting a little bit seeing this one go out the door. I've been fishing it(sparingly) on a pre-fire Leonard for the past 10 years. Up for auction is this older Hardy Bros 3 ¾” Marquis No. 10 fly reel in excellent plus condition with padded vinyl case. Instruction leaflet and box. This is an original Marquis fly reel made in England and not one of the newer models that were made offshore. It has a single ebonite handle. A short smooth alloy foot and a quick release drum latch. The line capacity is the fly line plus approximately 180 feet(54 meters) of 18 lb. Dacron backing and can be adjusted for either right or left hand use. SUPERB HARDY JET 6 9FT FIBRE-TUBE FLY ROD c1972+ HARDY VISCOUNT 130 FLY REEL
SUPERB HARDY“JET” 9FT Wt#6 FIBRE TUBE TROUT FLY ROD Exquisite 2-piece rod with blue Hardy bag AND Hardy 3¼" Viscount 130 fly reel + case WITH Full length Wt#6F fly line A complete Hardy package with which you could literally walk straight down to the water's edge and start fishing. The JET 6 is a great 2-piece lake/reservoir trout fly rod from Hardy Brothers of Alnwick. England being 9ft(275cm) in length and in great condition. Please see my photos. It casts a weight#6 line and is made from Hardy's Fibre-Tube and dates from 1972- the letters H/O scripted on the fibre-tube indicates this date. To compliment this super rod I have included a Hardy Viscount 130- 3.25" fly reel(with case) which is loaded with a floating Wt#6 fly line(it being of a light blue colour is probably Air-Cel) The rod casts the line magnificently ... moreand balances perfectly. All the rings. On the rod, are intact and show little or no wear or grooving with the spigot join giving a perfectly tight fit with no slackness and is connected by lining the figure 68 up on both sections- this aligns all the rings correctly. All the rings, with the exception of the first one, are made of(I think) tungsten and are snake eyes. The first ring is a small round ring with a ceramic insert. The original orange whippings are all immaculate and I can recall there being the same colour as my Hardy Jet 6 rod from the early 1970s. So can positively say they are original. The Hardy reel seating is threaded and of a light alloy with a little bit of tarnishing while the corks are immaculate. Which is a bit of a surprise, as the original plastic cover has not been removed which would usually cause some sweating of the corks- but none whatsoever is evident. I would, however, suggest that the lucky winner of this super rod& reel package remove the covering and let the corks breathe. As far as the Hardy Viscount 130 reel is concerned it is in excellent working condition and dates from the 1940/50s. It has a sliding centre latch. For removing the spoo

Nothing wrong but they tuned and greased it. Adjustable single pawl click drag which can be changed to right or left retrieve. The reel weighs only 3 oz. and is 3.25" in diameter. Grey in color. The reel is loaded with a brand new Scientific Anglers Mastery Textured Trout WF5F fly line, willow in color. Never fished or cast. Its adjustable drag works fine and the check sound has that distinctive Hardy tone. It has acquired a fine patina and has an early unaltered brass foot. The round agate has a fine crack that will not affect the line if one wishes to use the reel. The reel does have two edge chips that I have highlighted in my pics. This is a fine collectable reel and it still has years of fishing enjoyment if used. There is a fair reserve to protect my investment. 1920-23 2 7/8" Hardy Uniqua Fly Reel Archuleta EXC Mechanical
Lots of leading on this early 20s Uniqua. Single Check. I bought this in spring. The pawl post was a little loose. I sent to Mr Bill Archuleta- one of the best vintage fly reel restorers today. He replaced post. I also asked him to provide me with a spare spring and a spare pawl(included in auction) This reel is ready to fish. I never ended up lining it. Initials are inscribed on side of reel and bottom of reel foot. See front plate photo. PMD is visible, and PMD is inscribed a 2nd time on front plate, but so lightly it can barely be seen. On bottom of foot, so light can barely be seen. The heavy PMD on side plate is into the leading only. Pillar area has some line rub, see photo. CLASSIC HARDY BROTHERS MADE ORVIS CFO IV FLY REEL BID WITH CONFIDENCE YOUR COMPLETE SATISFACTION IS GUARANTEED! Early vintage Orvis CFO IV single action. Spring and click pawl fly reel made for Orvis by Hardy Brothers of Alnwick, England- circa 1974. Three hole ported reel foot. Reel is 3 and 1/4 of an inch in diameter by 1 and 3/16ths of an inch wide(excluding handle and drag knob) and weighs 3.7 ounces. Most suitable for 5-8 weight lines/rods, capacity- WF6F plus 100 yards of 20lb Micron backing. Spool opening is 3/4 of an inch wide. Reel is in good condition mechanically: screws and rivets are all tight, handle is straight, uncracked and turns smoothly, spool is tight without any noticeable warping or wobbles. Spool rim and edge show considerable wear and there was a flat spot at 5 oclock that I repaired. There is obvious surface loss ... moreor rash from the reel not having been dried completely prior to prolonged storage effecting approximately 60 percent of the finish on the back of the frame and the frame edge as well as the inside surface of the bottom pillar. The original nickel silver 2-way line guide had several nasty line grooves in it so I replaced it with a new one. Reel can be fished with right or left hand retrieve by simply reversing the click pawls. Minimal"drag" regulation may be applied via a plastic knob on the reverse which causes tension springs to exert pressure on the click pawls. Additional drag pressure may be applied manually by palming the spool rim. Includes a very nice generic(not Hardy or Orvis product) cloth and nylon, zippered, padded reel case- not shown. A classic early vintage Hardy made Orvis IV that is admittedly not the most eye appealing example of this very popular collectable I have ever sold but still quite scarce with lots of fishable years left in it.
