vintage hardy lightweight fishing reel 3.5 inch + 3 inch alloy fly fishing reel
hi for consideration here I have 2 vintage fishing reels. Firstly is a vintage hardy 3.5 inch lightweight fly reel in ok condition I would say, quite some paint loss and chips, it spins well enough and has a correct smooth alloy foot, inside it has a double check mechanism, secondly is a vintage alloy and what must be brass with a tortoise shell pattern, this reel measures 3 and has a slightly wobbly bone handle with constant check, the foot is ever so slightly wobbly as well, it also has brass pillars, but again it spins ok, posted recorded delivery thanks for looking and good luck, ps please take a look at my other vintage items for sale thank you please make payment as soon as possible to avoid a delay in posting as I fish most days. The reel is remarkably light weighing a mear 2.8 ounces- roughly 60% less than comparable Hardy reels cast from the more traditional aluminum alloy. Most suitable for 2 to 5 weight lines/rods. Used Sunbeam 8/9 single action fly reel made by Hardy Brothers of England. Reel was purchased in 1980. The fly reel is in excellent condition. Both mechanically and cosmetically. Surface finish has very little dulling, a few small scuffs etc. typical for a used reel of this vintage but nothing detrimental to the usefulness of the reel and no roughness on the spool rims. The reel is mechanically sound, tight and in perfect working condition. No spool or handle wobble. The reel body has an agate line guide and spacer plug in perfect condition. Included on the reel is approximately 100 yards of backing, and approx. 50 yards of running line that was used with a shooting head. Shooting head not included. This auction is for a Vintage 70's Hardy Bros 8-9wt Marquis Fly Reel. This is a beautiful reel measuring in at 3 3/4" in diameter. The action is great and the spool spins well. I am not sure what kind of line comes wrapped on the spool. But I'm willing to bet it's good stuff. The housing is in great shape with no scrapes or dings. Very Rare Hardy Monogram 3” Fly Reel This is a very rare Hardy Monogram fly reel. This Hardy reel has a silver colored solid(non-ported) spool held to the spindle with a brass screw. A darker grey colored frame, an enclosed agate line guard, Hardy's traditional black ebonite handle, an unribbed brass reel seat and an adjustable click and pawl overrun system. The spool is 3” in diameter. The brass reel seat is stamped with Pat. No. 272409. The inside of the frame is stamped with the initials"JS" The reel comes with a non-original corduroy pouch. Our best guess for capacity is approximately 100 yards 20 pound multifilament nylon backing with a WF5F fly line. The back of the frame bears three inscriptions: Made by Hardy Bros. England. LL Bean GQS Disc 8/9 Spey/salt Fly Reel (Made In England By Hardy Bros, Used)
Used LL Bean GQS fly reel rated for 8 or 9 weight lines. This reel was made in England by Hardy Brothers of Alnwick and is very similar to the Marquis Disc or early model Orvis CFO Disc lines of reels. This retro style reel has a solid disc drag. Is saltwater proof and can be changed from left to right hand wind easily. It would be perfect paired with a Spey or switch rod. The reel has had some use. But is in reasonable working order. Mechanically it is good shape and the drag and clicker mechanism function well. Cosmetically it has a number of small dings and blemishes. This particular model was supplied with a black stealth paint finish, rather than anodization. The paintwork on this was was in bad shape, so it has been re-sprayed. The current paintwork is ok, but not perfect- see pictures. This is a good functioning reel to use, not one ... morefor a collector. Spool diameter is approximately 3.75 inches. Width approximately 0.875 inches. Should take an 8, 9 or even 10 weight single handed line with ample backing. With a Spey or switch rod, it would suit a 6, 7 or 8 weight line. House of Hardy the Princess fly reel w/line and case
This reel is in prime condition. No parts are missing. It can either be used right or left handed it also comes equipped 4 weight sinking line and its original case. The reel is 4/5 weight there is no functional flaws and the drag works perfectly fine, there is only slight cosmetic damage around the reel release and a few dings around the frame(only noticeable upon close examination) it is well greased and the gears turn smoothly I haven't been able to find another used one on ebay that is in as good shape as this one.

Okuma 700 Vintage Knock Off of Hardy's Featherweight Fly Reel
This is another fly reel I found from my store. It's in excellent condition. It was made probably in the late 70's and it's basically a knockoff of the Hardy Featherweight. It looks the same and performs well except it has a rather noisey drag compared to Hardys. A great collector's piece of makes a nice reel for a light weight fly rod. Vintage Hardy Bros. Fly Reel - The Princess - NO RESERVE
A nice old reel for restoration. Parts or display. It's all here, but it has seen better days! Check out the photos for the details. There are plenty of scratches and nicks from years of use. You can also see an unfortunate"operation identification" engraving on the face. Ouch. The drag does not work. The picture shows the mechanism, and the individual parts move nicely, but the drag does not engage the spool at all. Don't forget the spool! It installs nicely and doesn't have any major damage. The outside face has scratching, but no big diggers like the reel. Overall, the outside diameter of the reel is 3 1/2" Let me know if you have any questions. If you are unhappy with the reel, you may return it for a refund of the purchase price. I do ask that you pay for the postage. Thanks for looking!
