Hardy Uniqua Salmon Fly Reel - 3 3/4 Wide Drum
Up for auction is a Hardy Uniqua. The reel is 3 3/4 inches in diameter. And has a rim tension control and telephone latch. Mark II check, and stamped with the initials JRJ on the inside. Designed for right hand wind, but is currently set up as a left hand wind reel(it can be switch by simply reversing the pawl) The only real fault is the seat, which has been filed on both ends. Vintage Hardy Duplicated Mark II "Perfect" Fly Reel, handle needs work
Up for your consideration is a vintage Hardy Duplicated Mark II Fly Reel as shown. The plastic handle on this is old and significantly worn as shown in photo 5. The reel makes a nice clicking noise when its turned but the handle seems to tighten up and lock up when you turn it. If you reverse direction. The handle feels like its loosening up. This reel would need some touch-up work to be useable, but seems quite restorable. I've included 12 photos for your inspection. Thanks.

This was a limited edition reel. I believe it was produced in 1999, but I'm not positive. I purchased it new a year ago and fished with it maybe 8-9 days. The reel is left hand wind. B lack finish. Nickel silver line check/ drag adjustment/ release lever screws. Brass rivets, aluminum vintage ribbed style reel foo t. The ONLY noticeable wear is minor scuffs on the reel foot where it mee ts the rod and a super tiny pin-point kn i ck in the finish that is circled in the last picture. There is no dent o r ding. Just a tiny dot in the' paint' Any other appearance of wear is dust. Or photo reflection. Truly like new. Save for the wear I have noted. The reel has no case.

This is an original made in England 3-3/8" Hardy Perfect Fly Reel. It was purchased new in the 1970-1980's and was used for a short time. It was then carefully stored in it's orginal padded Hardy case. And the extra spool stored in a protective bag. The reel appears in almost new condition, except for light rub marks visible next to the winding handle, and small scratches on the top surface of the polished aluminum reel foot, where it was attached to the fly rod's reel seat- please see photographs. The overall finish of the reel is in excellent conditon. The Agate Line Guard enclosed in the silver ring is smooth and polished with no defects. Chips or scratches. Mechanically the reel is in perfect operational condition. With no noticeable wear to any moving parts. There is no play or wobble in the spindle or spool. The Extra ... moreSpool is in almost perfect condition. The original padded zippered Hardy case is also in excellent condition with no damage. The Hardy Perfect Fly Reel remains one of the few fly reels to utilize ball bearings for spool rotation. Which accounts for its ultra smooth and steady winding action. Well-cared for by its previous owner but no doubt intensively fished, this 6/7wt set subsequently displays the signs of cosmetic wear and tear one would naturally expect in a piece that's been avidly employed. As evidenced in the photos. There are some moderate scratches, scrapes and"rock rash" to be aware of around the reel's rimmed edges and periphery. While the engraved reel face remains largely free from any major dents, dings or bruising, do please note that the center black spindle cap is missing. As is often the case with these popular vintage reels. Lost while fishing many seasons ago, there is some light rust that has subsequently started forming around the hex-nut lug(please see pics) Though no longer bright and shiny like it once was new. The machined aluminum reel foot remains straight and tight, and despite some modest scratching, no excessive wear or tear was noted. I bought this reel 2/3 years ago with intention of a nice winter project! As you can see I never got round to it. The reel is a bit of a mystery as the quality could quite easily be that of Hardy although it is unnamed! The reel foot is exactly the same as Hardy.The handle is of high standard and the spool release is a telephone latch with Hardy part no? Internally all the parts are of the highest quality.The rivetting is also superb work. quite honestly I am stumped as to maker, but quality workmanship! I do not know age of reel but would estimate 40's/50's? My thoughts were to clean reel up and get it professionally resprayed or totally strip reel and polish for a spitfire look. very very rare twin agate vintage hardy perfect fly reel
here is a super rare hardy perfect with twin agates. The reel measures exactly 3 1/2 inches on the spool side and 1 1/4 width, the reel has a few problems but its rarity out ways them. problems are one agate cracked chipped other one perfect, the head of the brass drag tensioner is broken off but the screw left inside is free and moves up and down, there is a crack in the rim of the reel and i think at some stage the foot has been professionally refitted not sure if its original but its firm and been done well if it has been refitted. all these things i have mentioned can be seen in the pics, if any more pics needed please just ask. there is no play on the spindle and the drag does work well nice and tight as i have moved it up and down, the reel is still usable and runs smooth but i would imagine it will go on show as its that rare, i have ... morenever seen one of these twin agate perfects this old and cant find any info on it. there is m12 and i stamped on the winding plate 12 and i on the spool and 12 stamped on the cage. also on winding plate is hardy alnwick patent with arrows right and left indicating left or right, you may have more chance of finding hens teeth for sale! i have been as honest as i can about this reel, thanks for looking and good luck with bidding, Check out my! With a grooved brass foot~~inscribed on the side of the foot with the British Pat.272409, inscribed on the inside with the maker's initials"W.S. ~ the employee of Hardy who made this reel. Because of the brass foot, we suspect that this reel was made before WW I as all of the brass was appropriated for shell casings until the war's end. The reel retains much of it's gray leaded wonderful patina. The reel has a black ebonite crank handle.
