Classic old Hardy Perfect 3 3/4" salmon reel. Circa early 1920's, in fine condition. Early, strong, duplicated MKII check with domed, knurled, nickle silver adj. thumbscrew. RH wind with free spinning Ebonite handle. Correct full length smooth brass foot measures 3 1/2" long& 5/8" wide. Weight is approx. 12 oz. Leading has aged to a beautiful bronze/silver patina. Some minor line grooves to the corners of the usual pillar as can be seen in pictures#3& 4. Reel is very tight and in excellent mechanical condition, with no repairs, no cracks, no problems. This is a Hardy Perfect 3-7/8 fly reel. I am not sure of the vintage but would guess this reel may be from the 50s. This Perfect has ribbed brass foot. The line guide pillar has only a slight amount of wear in enamel finish only. It is a right hand wind reel. Mechanically and cosmetically excellent. Except that a former owner lightly scratched the intials RWH(possibly for right wind hand? on back plate. Reel is in excellent operating condition with a strong drag. Scarce Early Hardy Perfect Salmon Reel with Brass Face
A very good Hardy Perfect Brass-Faced Salmon Reel with the early pre-1905(1896? check mechanism. The reel is 4" diameter by 1 3/8" wide. The brass revolving plate features a straight line company stamp. Hardy's Pat. Perfect Reel" as well as the famous"Rod in Hand" logo. This early example also has a brass strapped rim tension with nickel silver tension screw, knurled nickel silver spool screw and fat ivorine handle grasp. The smooth brass foot has been cut down on either side to fit modern rods, and is attached to the frame via four pins. One of the pillars has some wear or gouges on it- see next to last photo. The spool has light surface corrosion along each flange that should clean. Mechanically it is in excellent shape with that Perfect purr. I w ould rate it VG- overall. Offered is a Hardy Bros. of Alnwick PERFECT fly reel Extra spool(only) The back-plate measures 3 1/8 inches. And the inside width of the spool is 15/16 of an inch. This spool is of vintage English U.K. manufacture. And is in V.G. nice condition. I'm not sure, but I think it fits a 3 1/2 inch Perfect reel. Check your own spool's measurements to be sure. Hardy Perfect 3 5/8" fly reel. Circa 1930s, EX +++ condition Reel is in excellent shape. Tight. No spool wobble. Strong, loud check. Ribbed brass foot. This reel was professionally re-leaded by the previous owner. It was done with pure graphite just like original prewar perfects. Like owning a brand new real from the 1930s. This will be some lucky person's chance to add to the reels natural patina over time and know that it was all their own use. Vintage Hardy Perfect Fly Reel - 4" MK II Check
Hardy Perfect fly reel. 4" diameter with MK II check. The reel has a full length foot and tension regulator. Some of the original leading remains. The reel is tight and the handle spins freely. There are no cracks on this reel. However, for full disclosure, the locking screw is a replacement and there appears to have been surface pitting that was fixed at one time as shown in the last photo. It's the off-colored gray areas in the photo; the two dots are the pins that hold the agate in place and are original. Not a collector's piece, but a great reel ready to fish. Hardy Bros. spools for a Hardy Perfect, 3 3/8 inch narrow fly reel
Three extra spools for an early 1960's vintage Hardy Perfect 3 3/8 inch fly reel- Right Hand Retrieve. Spool is 2 15/16 inches in diameter(perforated face) by 3/4 of an inch wide(narrow drum model) and is made to fit 3 3/8 Perfects that have a separate spool screw. I would classify these spools as being in excellent to near mint condition. There is only one small scratch on the third spool in the pictures and it is on the inside. There are no other imperfections. Spools for vintage Hardy Perfect reels in this condition are getting almost as hard to find as the reels themselves. Pick them up now when they are still relatively inexpensive- they sure aren't going to go down in price or value! You should find the pictures clear and a good representation of the spools. for sale here is a vintage hardy perfect trout fly fishing reel. 3 + 5/8ths size, smooth alloy foot, right hand wind, rim tension, overall good user reel with good strong check, no line burns etc, tiny little bit of play on the winding plate but nothing major, as you can see it has some paint loss mainly on the winding plate but other than that its a good user reel and priced accordingly, as i said its a good user reel if you dont mind the paint wear. comes with a hardy case which isnt great but it still zips up and protects the reel as its torn at the rim.please see my other listings of hardy and other vintage fishing items this week.

Vintage SCARCE Hardy 3" Hardy Perfect reel
A scarce Hardy 3" alloy narrow rimmed trout reel. This is either a Perfect or a Special Perfect. There is an ivory handle. Strapped tension screw, white agate ring, with a 4 rim cusps. I see no ball bearing. It has the Hardy's Alnwick patent on the side plate. The reel foot is aluminum. I have the Hardy Brothers reel book by John Drewett and do not see many 3 inch reels made with an agate ring. It is in very good shape for the age, perhaps around 20's. I believe it to be quite rare. Miniature yellow waterlily - hardy "Pygmaea Helvola" - perfect for container
Unique and stunning- tiny hardy Helvola water lily. That thrives in a container unlike any of the regular sized lilies. Leaves are about 3" diameter and are mottled in green and purple. Blooms are about 2" diameter, and are a beautiful creamy yellow with a cheerful yellow center. This dwarf can be planted in as little as 6" of water above the soil level(6"12" is ideal) Barrels, galvanized tubs and large pots work great. You will receive a healthy cutting from my own lily(seen in the photos) it will have roots and emerging leaves and will starting growing fast as soon as the the weather is consistently warm. I began this time last year with a piece much smaller than the one you will receive. And had a 24" diameter bowl fill up by June. This is by far my favorite lily because you can grow it in a miniature water ... moregarden just about anywhere- a balcony. Patio, rooftop, yard. If happy, this lily will provide you with non-stop blooms from May to frost. Helvola tolerates some shade. However it loves the sun- keep it an a spot that will receive at least 6 hours of sun, and it will reward you with rapid growth and prolific blooms. Plant in regular heavy garden soil, composted manure, loam, sand- any heavy substrate that will not float in water. Lilies are heavy feeders- I recommend fertilizing once a month with aquatic fertilizer, however regular Jobe's tomato fertilizer spikes work great(just use any fertilizer that has a high middle number for the most blooms) Helvola is very hardy- you can plant now. As long as your container/pond does not freeze. In the winter, you can leave it outside in the water as long as it does not freeze solid, or pull it up and store the root in a cool basement/garage/refrigerator while keeping it moist. Vintage Hardy"The Perfect" Mark II 2 7/8 Fly Reel This fabulous Hardy's"The Perect" mark II fly reel is in"as found" Used condition and has not been restored or repaired by us. The reel measures 2 7/8 inches across and has"The Perfect Fly Reel. Made by Hardy Bros. Ltd, Pat. Nos. 24245& 9281, Duplicated Mark II" impressed in to the back plate. The reel still revolves well with a good smooth action and there is no"play" when the spool is rocked. The rim regulator screw works fine and the ebonite handle is well attached. As is the smooth brass foot. The handle does not revolve but I haven't tried to force it to avoid causing damage. The smoke agate ... moreline guide has a small crack. The holder has"Hardy's Pat" impressed in to it. The reel has the usual scratches and scuffs that you would expect from the years of use but I can't find any cracks or splits to the drum or the cage. This is a good example of a classic"Hardy" reel and it is so evocative of times and anglers past. We take great care to describe our items as clearly and honestly as possible. It has the large nickel silver line guard and the Mark II adjustable drag with the heavy-duty springs and pawls. This pre-WW II reel has a ribbed brass foot and a brass spool retaining screw, which does the job, but is a replacement. Everything works as it should on this reel, and there are no cracks, broken parts or repair needed. Here is a Hardy perfect in 3 3/8" size. Smokey agate line guide set in a nickel silver ring and nickel silver rim tension screw. The reel foot is ribbed brass with no tool marks. The handle is a dark gray set on a brass stud and cup. Built for right hand wind. The reel is in good working condition, with well worn finish and scattered shallow scratches. The reel works great. The reel comes with a red and tan hardy case.

Vintage Thompson 100 Fly Reel San Francisco Like Hardy Perfect
This is a Thompson 100 fly reel made in San Francisco. It is a right hand retrieve reel. From the research I've done I think they were only made in right hand retrieve. These reels were made post WWII. They look similar to a hardy perfect but are better suited to handle larger fish from what I've read. The reel is used but in working order. The drag on it is really loud. This is a sweet reel. I would keep it to use for myself if it wasn't right hand retrieve. This is a piece of fly fishing history. Feel free to ask me questions. Look at the photos for condition. There are some nicks and scratches but nothing that negatively affects the performance of the reel.

EXTREMELY RARE VINTAGE HARDY PERFECT FLY REEL 3-1/8 with coveted 1912 Check
You are bidding on an extremely rare true vintage HARDY PERFECT with the highly coveted 1912 Check mechanism. This reel is the 3-1/8 inch model and is all original and correct. Aesthetically it is a supermodel and mechanically it is flawless. This is truly a collector grade Hardy that is near impossible to find in this condition. Leading intact. Has the cupped winding plate. Full length unfiled foot. Four cusps on face of spool correct. Ivory handle spins freely. No wobble. Absolutely no dings/dents/damage. Strap over tensioner works perfectly. Stamped"2" throughout all pieces for a precise match. 1912 check mechanism clean and looks super. It is possible that the retention screw is a replacement but I cannot be absolutely certain. Pillars unmarred with no line burn. As expected it is right hand wind. Reel foot looks to be stamped ... morewith what looks like a J. Weight is approximately 6 ounces. The rod measures approx. 9 foot 6 inches. including the handle) in overall length. The fittings and reel seat to the butt section are in alloy, this rod also has an alloy butt spear. The butt and top ring are agate lined. It has a"Stud Lockjoint" which is a good snug fit and has retained much of its' original finish. The agate has no issues or cracks. The cork is in great shape, no breaks or cracks. All of the rings are present and well attached and the close gold whipping is in good order. There is no crazing or cracking to the varnish. The rod appears to be straight. Vintage Thompson No. 500 Fly Reel; San Francisco, Better Than a hardy Perfect
For sale here is a fantastic example of a classic Thompson No. 500 fly reel- made in California in the late 1940's. Diameter is 3 3/8" Similar in style and performance to the classic Hardy Perfect. The reel is in excellent condition with the majority of its wonderful black finish remaining. Circular line guard and full-length smooth brass reel foot. Light marks around the crank handle which is very normal. The No. 500 was built to handle 6/7/8 weight lines. This drag system was unmatched in the American market back in the 50's. This is ultimate steelhead and light salmon reel for single handed rods. From Dan Homel's book. Antique Fly Reels, A History and Value Guide, The drag incorporates a separate brake shoe for tension and pawl for click, both mounted upon lever arms fitted to opposite sides of a brake drum. The brake ... moredrum is provided with a smooth surface to accommodate the shoe and a toothed area or ratchet for the click pawl. Overall tension can be adjusted in various combinations between the pawl and brake shoe by means of two individual knobs which each drive a spring loaded stem against their respective lever arm. A recessed roller cage houses loosely fitted ball bearings to ease the entire rotation process.
