Here we have a vintage Hardy Taupo Perfect Salmon fly reel. 3 7/8" size, with the perforated wide spool, set for right hand wind(reversible) the reel being NUMBERED 190 engraved inside the faced plate, with a smooth alloy foot mounted on the frame with two screws, a rim tension adjustment knob, an ebonite crank handle, with the strait line name of the manufacturer, the style and size of the reel engraved on the face plate. The number engraved inside the face plate reflects that this reel was the 190'th of this type and size reel made by Hardy. The reel is in very fine used condition and preserves most of it's gun metal finish. It appears to be well maintained and is without wobble and is tight on the spindle and has a loud check. The reel could use a bath. A cleaning, a lube, oil, etc. ~~ and a good home. Offered for sale is a vintage Hardy Perfect Fly Reel. 3 3/8" in diameter, with a NICKEL SILVERED/GRAY AGATE LINE GUARD, set for Right Hand Wind, a smooth alloy foot, with a perforated spool, a Brass Rim Tension Adjustment Knob, an ebonite crank handle in absolutely spactular condition, with only minor scratches and retaining almost all of it's gun gray lacquered finish. The reel appears to very sparingly used. It is a great trout or light salmon fly reel and has been well cared for. The reel would accommodate a 4-7 weight fly line plus backing. The reel would make a fine addition to one's vintage Hardy Perfect Fly Reel collection when displayed in a prominent location to onlookers to peak with envy and admiration. Hardy Bros. 2 7/8” Perfect trout reel. This little Mk II check reel, with the extra spring and pawl. Has Hardy’s ball bearing design that accounts for the smooth feel of these Perfect reels. This RHW reel. The smallest of the modern Perfects, has a nickel silver circular line guard and a ribbed brass foot. The foot itself is the correct length. But one edge has been filed slightly to accommodate an up-locking reel seat. This early 1950s reel was made by long-time Hardy employee Jackie Johnson– J.R.J. and still has some of the leaded finish that was a feature in those days. There are no dents. Nicks or cracks on this reel, and I assure you that it is a very smooth. Well-tuned reel. It comes in a suede leather zippered case.

Vintage Hardy Perfect 4 1/4" Salmon Wide Spool Silver Line Guide 1950's RHW
Here we have a vintage Hardy Bros. Ltd. Perfect 4 1/4" RHW Salmon/Steelhead fly reel with a WIDE SPOOL, with a SILVER LINE GUARD, with a rim tension adjustment knob, an ebonite crank handle, a grooved alloy foot, engraved in the inside with the number"17" as well as engraved on the back with the maker's name, style and size of the reel, with perforated spool and a center spool mounted screw. The reel comes with the cloth bag as shown in the photos. The reel is tight as is the drum with no spool wobble or play in the spindle. The check is extremely loud and strong. The reel retains most of it's gun gray patina, with some scratches on the edge of the frame which does not hinder the operation of the reel. The reel is the perfect size for big water salon fishing and would be the right balance for a big bamboo two handed ... moresalmon rod. We believe that the circa of this vintage salmon reel is in the 1950s. This reel would make a fine addition to that Hardy Perfect Salmon reel collection when displayed in a prominent position. It would also attract a lot of attention as the check'screams' as that large fleeing salmon strips out line and backing at a flight to freedom. This reel could use a lube.
