Well-cared for by its previous owner but no doubt intensively fished, this 6/7wt set subsequently displays the signs of cosmetic wear and tear one would naturally expect in a piece that's been avidly employed. As evidenced in the photos. There are some moderate scratches, scrapes and"rock rash" to be aware of around the reel's rimmed edges and periphery. While the engraved reel face remains largely free from any major dents, dings or bruising, do please note that the center black spindle cap is missing. As is often the case with these popular vintage reels. Lost while fishing many seasons ago, there is some light rust that has subsequently started forming around the hex-nut lug(please see pics) Though no longer bright and shiny like it once was new. The machined aluminum reel foot remains straight and tight, and despite some modest scratching, no excessive wear or tear was noted. I bought this reel 2/3 years ago with intention of a nice winter project! As you can see I never got round to it. The reel is a bit of a mystery as the quality could quite easily be that of Hardy although it is unnamed! The reel foot is exactly the same as Hardy.The handle is of high standard and the spool release is a telephone latch with Hardy part no? Internally all the parts are of the highest quality.The rivetting is also superb work. quite honestly I am stumped as to maker, but quality workmanship! I do not know age of reel but would estimate 40's/50's? My thoughts were to clean reel up and get it professionally resprayed or totally strip reel and polish for a spitfire look. very very rare twin agate vintage hardy perfect fly reel
here is a super rare hardy perfect with twin agates. The reel measures exactly 3 1/2 inches on the spool side and 1 1/4 width, the reel has a few problems but its rarity out ways them. problems are one agate cracked chipped other one perfect, the head of the brass drag tensioner is broken off but the screw left inside is free and moves up and down, there is a crack in the rim of the reel and i think at some stage the foot has been professionally refitted not sure if its original but its firm and been done well if it has been refitted. all these things i have mentioned can be seen in the pics, if any more pics needed please just ask. there is no play on the spindle and the drag does work well nice and tight as i have moved it up and down, the reel is still usable and runs smooth but i would imagine it will go on show as its that rare, i have ... morenever seen one of these twin agate perfects this old and cant find any info on it. there is m12 and i stamped on the winding plate 12 and i on the spool and 12 stamped on the cage. also on winding plate is hardy alnwick patent with arrows right and left indicating left or right, you may have more chance of finding hens teeth for sale! i have been as honest as i can about this reel, thanks for looking and good luck with bidding, Check out my! Vintage Early Hardy Uniqua 3 5/8" RHW 2 screw Telephone Latch Salmon Fly reel
You are bidding on a very early vintage Hardy Uniqua 3 5/8" RHW Salmon fly reel. With a grooved brass foot~~inscribed on the side of the foot with the British Pat.272409, inscribed on the inside with the maker's initials"W.S. ~ the employee of Hardy who made this reel. Because of the brass foot, we suspect that this reel was made before WW I as all of the brass was appropriated for shell casings until the war's end. The reel retains much of it's gray leaded wonderful patina. The reel has a black ebonite crank handle. Ivorine handle, horseshoe drum latch and MkI check. Very small pitting on the rear(see photo 2) and minor line burns on two of the pillars(photo 6) Small spindle wobble. Has a nice dull patina although most of the leading has been worn off. For Sale- this classic Hardy Bouglé Mk V Centenary Edition 4" Reel plus a spare spool. It balances well almost every Spey and Switch rod. The reel has seen some use but it is in excellent condition. There are a few very minor nicks but the reel is in superb used condition. The dark green color is gorgeous. The click of the pawls is sweet music to any serious steelheader or salmon fisher. For your consideration is this Hardy Bros Fly Fishing Spool. The spool comes in the original case and both appear to be in excellent condition. The spool is marked on the back with a label. WF2FS" and someone's hand written word, Sinking" The reel looks to been rarely used. The spool measures 3 7/16" inches in diameter and 7/8" an inch across. I am not sure what model this spool goes to nor the weight line that is needed. The spool has the accompanying case. Marked internally with the maker’s initials T.A.G. for Thomas Armstrong who worked for Hardy from 1928-78 and also stamped internally with the number 7 on the body and spool. Stamped on the rear. Made By Hardy Bros Ltd. Alnwick England. Size 3.3/8” The“Uniqua” Fly Reel. PAT. NO3.24245& 9261. Tiny amount of spindle wobble. Hardly noticable. No line burns.
