All of the mechanical and functional aspects are in very good condition and the reel feels and sounds very smooth. There are no bent or warped parts. There are some abrasions and scratches on this item(as shown in pictures) Someone has scratched their initials(NFM" NFFM" and what looks like"VIFF" into 3 interior sections on the reel(not visible when reel is operationally assembled) and 2 exterior areas(where it is mostly visible under the right light) Please refer to the pictures(I have documented these 5 areas) The black paint on the interior of the spool is worn and there are several scratches including one of the initialed areas(refer to photo) The top of the drag adjustment knob has 2 small nicks. The other 2 interior areas where the initials occur are approximately 1 inch from the exposed bearings on both sides of the body of the reel. The interior spool side is where it appears to have the"VIFF" There is also the outline of what appears to be some sticker that has fallen off(located next to the exposed bearings in photo) The final areas are on the exterior front and back face of the reel and I did not notice them until I had the reel under the perfect light(I owned this reel for years without seeing this) Also. There is an abrasion on the frame at the bottom of the reel(next to the bottom post) If you are considering buying this reel then you are most likely a serious angler and or collector so please study ALL pictures very closely with the zoom function. You are viewing/ bidding on a Hardy Brothers Fly Reel. The model is The St. John. This reel was never used. And was in my grandfather's reel cabinet for many years. It is in near perfect condition with the exception of a couple small scratches; one near the spool release and a couple very small on the front of the line guard area. There are also a couple small smudges on the front of the reel. These probably came from taking in and out of the cabinet. This reel was purchased in the early 1980's to fish for Atlantic Salmon. This would make a very nice addition to any collection, and would perhaps would make an excellent trout/ salmon reel. I would be happy to provide more photos or answer any questions. VINTAGE House of Hardy - THE FLYWEIGHT Fly Fishing Reel w/ case! Made in England
Hi there! Up for bidding is one of my fathers fishing reels. I'm not sure exactly how old it is. But I believe it's been around for a while! The reason I said VINTAGE in the listing is because the cursive/scroll writing on the reel looks different from the newer"Flyweight" reels from Hardy, but I really don't know for sure! Anyhow. The brand of this reel is HOUSE OF HARDY and it was made in England. It looks to be in excellent shape, which doesn't surprise me, as my father always kept everything in pristine condition! The reel says in cursive, Made by House of Hardy, England" and it also says, The Flyweight" There is a peach- coloured line wrapped around the reel. It comes with a blue. Vinyl-type zip case which also says House of Hardy on the top. It looks like there is a small piece of vinyl coming off ... morefrom the case, near the back of the case, where the zipper begins. Please see photos! He also attached a little tag on the outside of the case and it says"2 WT" So, I'm not really sure what that means. Maybe the line is a 2 weight line? Inside the case is a little pamphlet/paperwork from House of Hardy that talks about how to care for your reel. Etc. My dad was a big fly-fisherman. He fished in rivers. L.W. Holmes fly reel -- classic Hardy Perfect clone, made in America
I'm parting with my L.W. Holmes fly reel. A Hardy Perfect clone made in America in the late 1940s/early 1950s. It's a blue collar classic with polished rims, matte gray spool, brass accents, and a translucent plastic amber handle. There are few minor dings, but otherwise it's in very good cosmetic shape. Mechanically it works well, with some light spool play/wobble, which is typical of this model. Strong, distinctive click. The reel is 3" in diameter and made of aluminum. Wow. Up for auction Is this RARE Hardy Bros. 3 3/4" St George fly reel from Alnwick England. This is the rare 3 screw drum with ebonite handle and a really nice condition agate line loop that looks to have 4 small cracks. This model has the ribbed brass feet and the reel is marked J.S. for the famous Jimmy Smith who did Fly Reels from 1908 thru 1960 for hardy. This reel works great but there is a small repair done as seen in photos 6,7,8, but it does not affect the reel at all and it is a almost 80 years old. This is a must have for any collector and please ask questions the photos don't answer before the end of the sale and with payment being due 48 hours after winning! I would classify this reel as being in very good condition cosmetically with some typical rim wear, small scuffs/scrapes here and there and finish dulling, but relatively light compared to most used reels of this vintage. The reel is in superb condition mechanically. One of the very best I've seen. The drag system and click and pawl ratchet work perfectly. Silent wind model. Jewelled bearing. Twin black ebonite handles. Ivorine quadrant weight casting regulator with brass rim mounted adjuster. Ivorine Brake Handle. Correct unfiled ribbed brass foot. Inscribed to the reverse of the frame- Made By Hardy Bros Ltd. Alnwick, England. The"Super Silex" Brit, Pat. No.395454, Diameter 3 3/4" Weighs approx 380g without line and backing. The spool is perfect mechanically but there is 9mm x 2mm corrosion chip to the edge shown in photo(why oh why were reels left in damp places with wet line ... moreon? This has no effect on the working of the reel and could of course be restored if you wish. Also spare spools do come on the market occasionally and certainly more frequently than spare frames. The finish is worn but in keeping with its age. There are no serious scratches or dents. This reel could still be used(with a big rod to balance it) or it would look wonderful in a collection. Hardy St. George Fly Reel 3 3/8 inch in original box EXCELLENT!
Hardy St. George 3 3/8 inch w/original box. Excellent finish with intact original agate line guide. Has 3 paint blemishes but no rub marks or scratches of any kind. Spool has some paint loss on interior of the spool due to the oil on the silk line know to cause this due to long period of no use(Shown in last photo) Desirable unaltered ribbed brass foot and bushings. Ultra smooth reel with no play or wobble whatsoever. Original box has"3 3/8" ST. GEORGE" labels on side and top. All corners are in nice condition and the box. Overall, is in very good condition with original padding. Although this is a 2 screw latch 50's model, it is a very desireable reel for either collecting and or using. Works beautifully weight-wise and all else on a fine HDH lined bamboo rod(DT6F)

Has nice original finish leaded frame and unleaded spool and winding plate. Reel foot is unaltered ridged brass foot with patent stamp on side. here is a beautiful little wide drum bfp in outstanding condition as you can see by looking at pics. this one is a must for the collectors or if you want to be the man on the bank it will last you a life time as its in fantastic usable condition with no wobbles or play on spindle.check works great.no line burns. it has initials ABS stamped on the face but this is the only thing i can find that may put some people off. it has full untouched alloy foot. fat handle. all 3 logos. centre oil hole. the reel has fine patina and all numbers match. a real little gem that you will not find in this condition very often Check out my!

here is a fantastic bfp in what i can only say is in the best working order i have ever seen one of these reels. the spindle and cog i think may have been refitted by hardy at some point but this benefits the reel as its like new to use the. check works great. it has its original alloy foot that has the smallest of filling to one end. See pics for this, its really tiny hardly noticeable. it has great patina and no dents or corrosion. this reel is ready for a life time of salmon fishing and will never let you down. you really need to see this reel in the flesh so to speak as its in amazing condition you will not find better. if you are not totally happy with this beauty you will receive a full refund including p+p. i am starting this reel at a price i think is a realistic one Check out my!

Vintage Hardy Bros. 4½” Longstone Fishing Reel Circa 1930’s
Up for auction is this older Hardy Bros. 4 ½ inch Longstone single action fishing reel. This reel has had a new drum piece replaced by a retired master reel craftsman from England that used to work for Hardy Bros. It has two large ebonite tapered handles and a brass ribbed foot which is attached to the frame with four brass screws. This reel also has an on/off casting/ratchet lever located on the side of the frame and a knurled drag adjustment knob located in the center of the drum. It is mechanically sound throughout and the drum spins very freely and true. Hardy’s name. Reel name and patent number 24245 is stamped on the back of the cage. In addition. There is an oval silver plate attached to the back of the reel with the inscription“Made For Manton and Co. Calcutta” Circa mid 1930’s making this reel approximately 75 years old!
