When we started creating Liquid we focused purely on the virtues and advantages a pressure-cast process can offer. Structurally you can do things with casting that you can’t machine. Such as full radiused compound curves, near zero-radius inside corners, and for precise fit and finish you can go back and machine the cast part in critical areas amplifying the best aspects of the process. We pushed back on other boundaries as well. How much of a reel at this price can we make here in the U.S. Quite a lot as it turns out. And it’s a good mix. These high quality castings are imported, but the components critical to the drag system are CNC-machined here in the U.S. Liquid reels are assembled in Boise alongside our highest priced reels. We pushed back on other boundaries as well. How much of a reel at this price can we make here in the U.S. Quite a lot as it turns out. And it’s a good mix. These high quality castings are imported, but the components critical to the drag system are CNC-machined here in the U.S. Liquid reels are assembled in Boise alongside our highest priced reels. Lamson LP3 Fly Reel?
I just ended this listing as LP1 but I do believe it to be LP3. the little copper piece noting the size fell out of the center on the back. It holds my 4 wgt. line. I've chased a lot of smallmouth and panfish with this reel. I've used it on my 3 and 4 wgt. fly rods. It's light and does the job. The drag works but the handle was somehow sheared off in the back of my Blazer on the way to the stream. I may have shut the gate on it. You can still reel the line back on with the little silver"counter weight" that sits across from where the handle used to be attached. The hole is there and you can possible attach a new handle. The reel looks worn but it's quiet. I'm saving up to buy a new reel and smallmouth bass rod which is why I am selling this reel. The reel is machined from bar-stock aircraft aluminum, with a caliper disc drag system. It has a diameter of about 3.75 inches, and a weight of about 7.75 oz. Line capacity is listed at 250 yds. of 20 lb. backing with a WF8 line, 225 yds. with a WF9. The cosmetics are excellent. With only a few little nicks along the edges. Reel works well, with a smooth, full range drag. It is spooled with a small amount of backing, set up for left hand retrieve. The drag direction can be switched for right hand retrieve by flipping over the clutch plate that sits atop the large gear on the spindle. The reel comes loaded with a Scientific Anglers GPX WF5F fly line from about 2010. The line's also in great shape with tons of life left. The line is a half-line-weight heavy, so it's great for fast action fly rods(I used it on a Sage XP) This is a super-lightweight fly reel with a ported spool and skeletonized frame.
