It’s considered to be a finesse technique. Yet it requires brute strength to make it work. The finesse part comes in the presentation. You want your jig or worm to enter the water very quietly because this is close-quarters combat fishing. You need it to drop straight down to make sure you get into the sweet spot next to that piling, bush or rock. You need heavy line because you’re after big fish and you need a rod with some guts so that when you do get bit, you can literally yank it away from the cover, quickly and with authority. Flipping Sticks used to be a lot stiffer, especially in the tip-section, to allow anglers to“swing” the bait accurately– depending on that stiff tip to help set the hook, but as techniques evolve and styles change, anglers have discovered they have more control and better accuracy with a fast-action rod with a more dynamic tip. They can use the flex in the tip to help accelerate the bait towards the target and they can“mend” the line with their free hand to control the lure’s entry into the water. We used to make our flipping sticks with telescopic handles, but boat designs have improved and now, most have rod lockers that will accommodate an 8-foot rod, so we changed to a one-piece configuration. It allows us to create a stronger, more sensitive stick that is noticeably lighter. After a long day on the water, anglers appreciate any weight reduction they can get. Very good working order. Just a few scratches here and there. This rod works awesome for so many different techniques. This is what i used it for. lipless cranks, top water,big cranks, jigs, spinerbaits, magnum skakey head, there is more, I just can't think of them right now. This rod can take the place of at least three rods. And its a Loomis! So for sixty buks, at any time you can get a brand new one! This is my second one of these. My first one got the tip broke off pre fishing for a tournament where the trap bite was the deal. I called, gave em my credit card info, and in 2 days I had a new rod, In time for the tournament! G. Loomis GLX 905 4pc. Fly Rod
This rod has been stored for several years and has been minimally fished since the original purchase. I took it out last weekend just to say goodbye. It is in great condition. Some finish is worn off the edge of the butt cap and there is a scratch on the ring used to secure the reel. The cork has darkened somewhat over time and has a very small nick that would be noticeable if you did a very close examination. A light sanding with very fine sandpaper would probably remove the blemishes and restore the original color but that is a decision for the new owner. Otherwise the rod is perfect and it casts like a dream. It comes with the original case. The availability of a used GLX 9' 4pc travel rod.In this condition, is uncommon.

I think it is an excellent all around rod which is perfect for anglers who start off fishing nymphs or light streamers, then switch over to dries as the day and hatches progress. You know the rod. You know the reel. These are big water, big game fishing tools. The rod is used but in great shape, the reel has only been tested one time and that was on a 9 pound bonefish in Bimini. The only flaw is the reel has the original owners name on it. It is a left handed reel by the way. You can switch it to a right hand retrieve by taking it to any local Nautilus dealer. I hate to sell them, but I simply don't use them and figured they would be a good set up for anyone wanting to get a quality set up at an affordable price.
