Offered here for sale is a very nice Vintage Orvis Battenkill V. Click and Pawl Fly Reel, with an unmarked zippered leather case. This reel is in excellent working condition, and measures approximately 3-7/8" in diameter. The only cosmetic issue is with the inside of the spool, where there is some pitting and corrosion from wet line and backing sitting there(please see photos) Other than this, the reel is excellent, and as stated above, works great. This nice reel is in perfect. Gently used condition with no flaws except for a few letters of paint loss. It is made by ORVIS and is their BATTENKILL Large Arbor III. There is a paper sticker on the inside of the reel that reads“Wonderline Generation 3 WF6F TROUT” The spool is filled with line. I have not uncoiled it but it appears to be some kind of thin white braided nylon line at the start of the spool and then progresses to a heavier yellow line for the remainder. The reel spins freely in both directions without any hesitation. There are no deep scratches, nicks, dings, warps or other damage to any part of this fine piece. The reel is remarkably light weighing a meer 4.5 ounces- roughly 60% less than comparable Hardy reels cast from the more traditional aluminum alloy. Most suitable for 6 to 10 weight lines/rods- ... morecapacity: WF9F + 200 yards of 20lb Micron backing. Would make a terrific light Spey reel. Reel can be fished with right or left hand retrieve by simply inverting the single click pawl. Very good condition in Bottle Green leatherette with a lovely sandy coloured Cordura outer. Foam-lined inside on one side. With a hole for reel/spool handle, and white/natural fleece lined on other inside face. Cordura outer fabric with robust zip. NOTE: There is one tiny spec of red(paint or ink or something) above the meeting of the letters R and V that measures a fraction of a millimetre and is not easy to spot. This spec is much duller than is highlighted by the camera flash but the spec is also shown quite well in the picture(which can be enlarged) It could possibly come off with a fingernail but I didn't want to risk any unnecessary damage. The ... morerest of the upper surface. The lower surface, the inner casing and the outer casing are pristine condition. Measures 10cm or 4" inches) INSIDE. Orvis 6 1/2' Deluxe bamboo impregnated fly rod "Battenkill" 1956 Never used!!!
This extraordinary fly rod was bought by my uncle in around 1956. He never used it! it was given to me years ago and I had it in my gun closet. Orvis Impregnated bamboo. Deluxe Style"Battenkill" 6 1/2 foot, 2 piece, 11 guides. Serial number 19049, Weight 2 oz. This rod has never been used, I don't even think its been put together. As you can see from the pics, the cork handle is light and has no signs of handling, which usually turns darker from human touch. It has 2 tips with it and is contained in a cotton plaid sheath and is placed inside an aluminum tube. The tube has the original tag on the outside. The tube and tag, as you can see, show some signs of wear from storage and moving it around. I was always going to fish with this rod. But couldn't bring myself to take it out to the stream.I really don't collect rods ... morenor do I really need it anymore. I did some research and found its very rare to find one in unused condition. So heres your chance! Thanks for looking!

The reel foot still appears straight and tight with no signs of damage or abuse witnessed, and a close inspection of the reel's interior confirms all pieces of the adjustable, fully-sealed disc-drag still perfectly intact with no evidence of excessive wear or tear found.
