Orvis Fly Reel - CFO III Silver Edition - Rare - slightly used - w/ spare spool
You are viewing/ bidding on a very gently used Orvis CFO III Fly Reel. This reel has been in my collection for many years. And was used twice for brook trout fishing in Maine. It was paired up with a 5 wt. cane rod. During this trip, a small scratch occurred on the edge of the reel. It is shown in the photo. Other than this, the reel is in pristine condition. It has a soft leather case, and matching spare spool. This model is designed for 4-6 wt lines. It is made by Hardy Brothers of England for Orvis. Orvis Battenkill Multiplier 8/9 Disc Drag Fly Reel Excellent Cond.
Up for auction is an Orvis Battenkill Multiplier 8/9 standard arbor fly reel made in England. The spool maybe easily and quickly removed to change right/left hand retrieve. The reel is made for 8 or 9 wt. line. It is a multiplier reel. Meaning that for each turn of the reel handle the reel turns more than once. There seem to be a couple of minor, hard for me to see scratches on the reel and it seems function perfectly. It is a heavy duty reel that only weighs 5 ozs. I have lubed it and comes with a full reel of backing,fly line and tippet. We have a smoke-free home. It has no case, but does have the original box and instructions. This is the Orvis Battenkill LA 6 which has been used for 2 seasons. There are minor scuffs along the exterior around the spool and drag knob. But there is nothing wrong with the reel. This reel has been cleaned and lubed after each season and is rated for big freshwater up to saltwater. I currently have it lined with an Orvis Wonder Line 9 wt salmon/ steelhead floating fly line, and I have caught plenty of them to tell you it works as advertised. This is an Orvis fly reel Model 1915ER. I plead ignorance on this reel. I think it's o.k. But I can't say with certainty if it's in good condition or what. Please feel free to ask questions and I will respond to the best of my ability. I bought this reel at auction in Richland MI in 2003, and I've never touched it since then. I'm not a fly fishing person and not very qualified to evaluate these reels. I took the reel apart and gave pictures of the inside to hopefully let you see for yourself.

The Mirage line is Orvis' flagship reel series. These are some of the finest fly reels made today. This Mirage II large arbor reel is the 2012 model and could pass as new in the store. It has been used only twice and retails for $525.00 with the included Hydros WF 5wt line. It is in its original neoprene case. The Mirage II can be used for line weights from 3 to 5. The line has been thoroughly cleaned and is ready to fish! Using the same principles employed for the brakes of fighter jets. The carbon to stainless drag gives smooth, consistent, and infinitely-adjustable stopping power—from free spooling to a dead stop.This reel is in the gold color. The Hydros line is in the yellow color with white backing. It is currently set up for right hand retrieve but can easily be changed.

Orvis CFO 123 Fly Reel Plus Two Spare Spools
This is the smallest reel made by Orvis at the time. It is perfectly balanced with 1.2, or 3 wt rods. It was made by Hardy in England. I am offering two extra spools for a total of three. One is filled with a double taper one wt(no backing) and another with wf 2 wt for windier days(no backing) The third is filled with backing and a 3 wt wf line. Orvis. CFO IV, fly reel with two spare spools. This is the 3 ¼” x ¾” heavily ventilated reel that was originally designed by Stan Bogdan for Orvis. This particular one is one of the older reels that were made in England for Orvis. With the adjustable drag switch on the rear plate that works as it should when turned. One can change the direction of the spool drive on this exposed rim reel by flipping the cam on the inside to move the pressure onto the other spring. This IV model can handle a WFF 6 line, and it has a double-sided nickel silver two-screw line guard and an aluminum full-length foot. The spare spools fit perfectly, and there are NO bent spool rims as all three spools spin beautifully. 1930s-40s brass foot Gem with good paint for age and in EXC mechanical condition. No cracks in handle. Typical rubs to edges. Please see all photos for details. The front face of spool has what look like touch ups to paint. Tone is slightly darker in spots. Use zoom to look closely. This does not appear on rest of reel. I cleaned carefully and lubed with hot sauce. I'm selling because this older style brass foot with broad-end does not quite sit well enough on my small 50s Battenkill Deluxe reel seat.
