It would be great to use on a small bamboo or graphite fly rod of your choice The reel is marked made in England I am not sure of the exact manufacture date. The reel is set up for LEFT HANDED RETRIEVE but can be also set up for right handed retrieve easily. The reel remains in very very good condition. There is light paint wear around the rim but very minor. The spare spool was probably used but it sure looks any use would have been very limited. There is no fly line on the spare spool-only backing. The line and backing on the reel is in nice condition-there is a sticker on the spool thats says AIR CEL WF-5-F The Orvis padded reel case is in great shape and the Orvis cloth liner for the spare spool is in fine shape-the Orvis lettering is fading quite a bit on the cloth. Up for sale is this extra spool for an Orvis DXR 7/8 fly reel. This spool will only fit the DXR 7/8 version purportedly made by Ross Reels. And will not function properly with the Lamson made DXR 7/8. So please be sure you have the correct reel before bidding. The easiest way to tell the two spools apart is by the spool latch release and cover. It should appear as the one shown in my second photo, with a swing type switch, not the push in variety. This spool looks to have seen a lot of action. There are numerous scratches and nicks along the rims. On the counterbalance the rubber o-ring. Up for auction is a classic CFO III(3) click and pawl with a leather case with rivets. The reel is already loaded with backing and 6 wt line. This reel was made in England by Hardy. This reel has been used and still has a lot of life left in it. As you can see in the pictures some of the paint is flaking on the frame which in no way affects the function of the reel. There are also a few minor dings as shown in the pictures. The spool is not rubbing the frame and the spindle does not appear to be warped or bent. Factory Orvis Silver Label 8.5ft 4wt 2 piece Fly Rod, Reel, and Custom Fly Rod
Up for auction is a factory 8.5ft Orvis Silver Label TL 2 piece(unsanded blank) 4 wt and a 5/6 Okuma disc drag fly reel loaded with 5 wt line. This package will also include another custom built fly rod that has been barely used. I do not know what the custom blank is. But it appears to be similar to a Loomis GL3 blank(I don't know if it is or not) The custom rod is approximately 8.5 ft 5/6 wt and casts the 5wt line perfectly that is already loaded on the Okuma reel. The Orvis fly rod has been used and still has alot of years left in it. As you can see from the pictures there are a few marks and scratches in the rod. Orvis serviced it about a year ago(and they stand by their products as you know) Plenty of drag for trout rods and fishing. Great for 4-6wt rods. Great shape but you can see a small scuff on the upper left part of the frame in the picture of the reel only. The spool has a tiny scrape on it too. Orvis 6 1/2 foot 4 weight Fly Rod + Vintage Skeleton Reel - Ready to Fish!
This is a great creek fishing rig. The rod is a six and half foot Orvis Rocky Mountain 4 weight. Still under warranty(I don't have the paperwork, but I believe they'll honor it) It has a little ding you can see in the reel seat, but other than that it's blemish free, and it has the sock and aluminum case. The reel is an unmarked skeleton reel(around 90+/ years old) loaded and ready to go, just needs a new tippet. The drag clicker doesn't work, but I never use it anyway.

Amazing Swedish engineered fly reel! The Orvis Lord II was made by a Swedish engineer Morner in the 1970's and only sold by Orvis for a couple of years. The last year Orvis sold them was 1981. It is a MULTIPLYING retrieve of 1: 2.14 and has a very unique drag system in which the drag is incorporated in to the knob with infinite control with out removing your hand from the knob. Apparently the engineer Morner will accept these reels for maintenance and dexterity reversal for shipping costs only although this reel is in perfect condition and needs nothing. It is made from aluminum and stainless steel which will hold up for a lifetime. You can go to classic fly rod forum and do a search for Orvis Lord or Morner and find first hand experience from owners of this unique reel. This is the larger version with a 4" diameter.1 3/16" ... morewidth, weighing 8.1 oz. It has a capacity of WF9 +220 yards 20 lb backing-or- WF11 + 130 yards of 30 lb. backing. This reel was barely used and is in perfect working order. The only issue I see with this reel is some minor handling marks on the reel in as shown in the pictures these scratches are very minor. OK. I'm getting out of the switch rod deal-tried it and I like the single handed stuff too well. Here is a total 6wt outfit that is lightly used but in excellent shape. Orvis Access Switch 11 foot, 6wt, 4 piece, Tip Flex rod with tube with internal dividers plus an after market 4 section rod sock, and blank warranty card. Paired up with this is a Ross CLA 5 Slate Gray reel spooled with the Rio Switch Chucker line and backing in Right Hand retrieve. Reel comes with original pouch, box and blank warranty card. Line box accompanies the deal, too. I've probably fished this combo a half dozen times-partly as a switch rod and a couple times single handing it as a nymph rod. Caught fish on it, too! The Ross Gunnison series is one of the all-time best. The sealed drag system was unique when it came out and remains one of the smoothest ever made. I've always loved the low-level buzz built into the drag when a good fish is running. This reel is in good-plus condition. The mechanism is in top-notch working order. The spool is like new. But the lower part of the reel body has been scratched. No damage to the structure, however, which is machined and anodized aircraft grade aluminum. I used the reel for 3-5wt lines.
