ORVIS BAMBOO IMPREGNATED BATTENKILL FLY ROD never used in original green sleeve and tube with labeled end. There is an extra tip. The ferrules fit precisely and pop when withdrawn. All loops and wraps excellent. Wonderful amber color. Parts numbers match. The tube does have some dents and the foil label shows some wear. HCH(6) This appears to be a"6" but is hard to read. A"C" rod is normally a 7 wt. Made for"E.G. Pollack" Rare Wes Jordan(Battenkill-grade cane) 8' 6 wt. The lettering on the rod is mostly intact. The grip does show wear as pictured but in character with vintage. The grip also has two factory depressions for the thumb and hand. In the interest of keeping domestic peace-sort of-and after protracted negotiations. I have promised to reduce the number of fly rods in the household. Not my idea, but I know better than to argue with the boss. Some of these are new rods. Some of them are high end. All of them are rods I would be willing to fish with, or I wouldn't have acquired them in the first place. On each, I will tell you what I know so you don't have to guess. This one: This is not only high end. It is a classic on an original, unsanded, staggered-ferrule Orvis Vermont-made blank from the Superfine series with Rocky Mountain hardware in absolutely mint condition. Which is the reason I acquired it, and it is hard to let go, despite the demands of domestic peace-keeping. This rod is amazingly friendly to different line weights. Will throw a 5wt nicely, and yet ... morehas enough backbone to punch a 7wt w/ a larger fly into the wind if necessary. This is because it is NOT one of the stiff modern broomsticks, but has a full deep action on original graphite made to imitate bamboo and glass, so if you are looking for fast/brittle, steer clear. I wanted it for a silver salmon rod. I believe it would also make a beautiful bass rod. Though I do not live in bass country. The rod has never been fished, and comes with original Orvis case and cloth, both in excellent condition. A great rod, and if I had any salmon fishing intentions in the foreseeable future, I would not let it go. If you know, or know of, this model, you really cannot go wrong with this one. Up for auction is a factory 8.5ft Orvis Silver Label TL 2 piece(unsanded blank) 4 wt and a 5/6 Okuma disc drag fly reel loaded with 5 wt line. This package will also include another custom built fly rod that has been barely used. I do not know what the custom blank is. But it appears to be similar to a Loomis GL3 blank(I don't know if it is or not) The custom rod is approximately 8.5 ft 5/6 wt and casts the 5wt line perfectly that is already loaded on the Okuma reel. vintage orvis impregnated bamboo fly rod battenkill and original case sock 2 tip
This is a vintage orvis battenkill fly rod up for auction. The rod comes with its original metal case. And the sock is included. The rod has 2 tips. The case has a description and specific on it. But its kind of hard to read. I'll do my best here: the case says battenkill, and at serial it says 59542, whispch is the same as one of the tips say. It says at weight 3 7/8 I believe. Length says 7 1/2 2 piece. And the last label is something to do with test I believe, and there is a code. The code looks like ct-12 and then do-6. I am not sure if this means its a 6 weight fly rod or not. I can't read the last label hardly at all. The bottom section measures 45 1/2 inches. The rod seat is cork. And there is a significant piece of cork missing, see pic. The reel retainer works fine. I see no serial number painted on it anywhere, and it looks ... moreto have never been repaired. One tip section measures 44 inches. This one has no serial number on it. And I believe this one is the original tip section with the rod. I also see a metal repair that was made, and I believe orvis did it. Please see pic. The piece is still solid and intact. But, its shorter than the bottom section and the other tip, so I believe this was factory repaired. The second tip is painted with serial number 59542. And is 46 inches long. This tip section is lighter in colt as far as the bamboo is concerned. It also has a removable tip section, which the other does not. It appears as if this section may have been added later, maybe by orvis when the original section was repaired? I am not sure of this, but it looks consistent. Orvis 6 1/2 foot 4 weight Fly Rod + Vintage Skeleton Reel - Ready to Fish!
This is a great creek fishing rig. The rod is a six and half foot Orvis Rocky Mountain 4 weight. Still under warranty(I don't have the paperwork, but I believe they'll honor it) It has a little ding you can see in the reel seat, but other than that it's blemish free, and it has the sock and aluminum case. The reel is an unmarked skeleton reel(around 90+/ years old) loaded and ready to go, just needs a new tippet. The drag clicker doesn't work, but I never use it anyway.

The rod is unmarked and so I don't know what kind it is. An impressive vintage rod- appears to be in good shape- I am selling many rods from the collection of an avid fisherman and I will say that this one stands out. Now. These pieces do show some signs of age and wear, one eyelet on the handle portion needs reattaching. Used Orvis Hydros 9' 5 Weight Mid Flex Fly Rod
This is a used Orvis Hydros 9' 5 Weight Mid Flex 4 piece fly rod. The rod has been well cared for and is in very good condition. The only noticeable scratches are on the bottom cap of the reel seat which I have photographed. Also. The alignment dots on the bottom section don't quite line up, which is probably why the rod was on sale when new, but has no impact on performance. The Hydros rod used the Helios 1 blank, with different, but still high end components. The rod is very light and casts very well- seems fairly fast for a"mid flex" rod. ORVIS Brass Fly Rod Hanger, Pheasant and Grouse or Partridge
These are two hangers that I purchased from Orvis some years ago. I used them to hang an antique fly-rod in my office. Also used them at my camp to hang my"goto" fly-rod. They are made of brass. One is a Grouse/Partridge and the other is a pheasant. There is some paint on the back of both but. The front is clean. They are 4 1/2" tall from the bottom of the hanger to the peak of the bird's head. You will need to buy four brass screws.

OK. I'm getting out of the switch rod deal-tried it and I like the single handed stuff too well. Here is a total 6wt outfit that is lightly used but in excellent shape. Orvis Access Switch 11 foot, 6wt, 4 piece, Tip Flex rod with tube with internal dividers plus an after market 4 section rod sock, and blank warranty card. Paired up with this is a Ross CLA 5 Slate Gray reel spooled with the Rio Switch Chucker line and backing in Right Hand retrieve. Reel comes with original pouch, box and blank warranty card. Line box accompanies the deal, too. I've probably fished this combo a half dozen times-partly as a switch rod and a couple times single handing it as a nymph rod. Caught fish on it, too! This is the Vermont-made. Orvis Superfine graphite"Limestone Special" rod, with the unsanded gray blank common to the early Orvis Superfines. Labeled for 6wt, but with a soft, full-flex action. Weighs 2 5/8 oz. 8ft 6in. long, original down-locking reel seat. The butt cap indicates manufacture date of Dec. 1982. Rod was designed with first-generation graphite to protect tippets to 6x and to provide exceptionally smooth, precision casting. This example is in excellent condition for a 30 year old rod. All guides are tight, grip and reel seat are excellent, and there might be a light scuff or two, but you will be hard pressed to find any.
