vintage Orvis 125th Anniversary fly rod 7 1/2' 2 pc 2 tips
This is an estate item that is in excellent condition with little or no signs of wear other than the scratch on the tube logo. It is serial number 86395. Built in the 1980's. It is impregnated cane with a cork grip. There is a maple wood insert in the grip. It comes with the original rod bag and rod tube. I do not know if the name can be removed from the cane, but just for information purposes, the original owner was a Chicago attorney who was very well respected and one who represented the Chicago school district. His obituary was printed in the Chicago Sun Times January 12, 2013. Used Scientific Anglers Mastery Series reel Made in England and Orvis Rocky Mountain 9 foot 8wt 3-3/14 oz. fly rod. This looks like a well used set but functional. Reel is smooth winding with nice soft click. Has line but not sure what size, one little ding shown in pic#9 some paint wear on drag. Rod is well used also with little cork chip shown in pic#7 and scuffs on eye windings. All eyes are there as well as tip, rust on first eye. Drag works on reel, looks like it is set up for left handed,do not know if it can be reversed.

The condition is excellent it looks like it was used but a few times. I'm under the impression it is a custom order rod. It is stickered"The Walton Powell Rod" And there is no mention of the size or weight. The pole is a dark graphiet gray with faint tiger stripes the length of the pole. The eyelets are bound with forest green thread. Nothing is bent and there are only a couple minor scratches on the surface. The cork handle is perfect. Orvis Seven/three 2-3/8 oz 2/1 Bamboo Fly Rod
This bamboo fly rod is an Orvis Seven/three 2-3/8 oz 2/1 with original rod tube and rod bag. Although this rod was an originally listed on the tube as a 2/2. When I purchased it approximately 20 years ago it came as a 2/1. The last time I checked Orvis will make a new extra tip for this fly rod for approximately $150. I have never found the necessity of doing so. This rod is listed for a 3 wt line and casts beautifully with a DT3F. The rod is in the 66XXX serial number range which I believe would place its manufacture somewhere in the 70's or 80's or earlier. To me, this is the perfect smaller stream fly rod with a dry fly demeanor that allows you to cast all day without giving any thought to the weight of the fly rod in your hand. With the exception of very slight grip soiling this rod is in excellent ++ condition. Vintage Orvis Equinox Bamboo Fly Rod
This is an 8'0" 2 piece rod. The rod was originally purchased by a life-long angler and sportsman and I recently inherited it. From reading the history of this model, the blank came from Scotland(it says'Scotlaqnd' on the end cap) and was finished in Vermont. The rod is in excellent overall shape-the guides are free of any corrosion and the wraps look great! The only wear that I see is on the locking ring for the reel. Which can be seen in the pictures. Otherwise it looks like the rod wasn't fished very much. I have lawn cast it with a 7 weight and it loaded nicely. I am sure it could handle an 8 weight line as well. It looks to be a great rod for steelhead or for fishing the larger rivers out west. Given the condition it would also make a nice collector's addition. Orvis Silver Label TL 9' 8 wt 2-piece Mid-Flex Fly Rod w/ Safe Passage Case!
For your consideration- an Orvis 9-foot 8-weight Mid-Flex Fly Rod with Composite Fighting Butt and an Orvis Safe Passage Case. My father bought this fly rod in North Carolina in the late 90's. And used it on exactly 5 weekend trips looking for redfish until they relocated to Kansas City 1 year later. The rod has spent the entirety of the interval since inside the case within a closet in their smoke-free. Pet-free home. The cork is beautifully clean, the beautiful charcoal-colored blank is still bright and clean, and the guides are smooth and rust-free. The reel seat shows nearly no wear, and the threads are smooth and clean. There are a couple of small details to mention regarding the condition- and both are pictured above. There is a small chip in the cork by the reel seat. It's about the size of half of a tic-tac. And would be easily ... morefilled with cork dust and glue. There is also a scuff in the blank that looks to go through the layer of epoxy. I was told by a couple of guys that this is also easily repairable with a little fly epoxy, and that it would not affect performance. This is a used rod, and there are other signs of light use completely consistent with normal wear. I never attempted repair on any of these issues, though I read that automotive plastic polish can remove any scratches or surface marks on a blank. I don't want to belabor the condition issues- it's still in great shape with many many years of use left. Knowing my father, I know that fly fishing attracts an extremely meticulous, detail-oriented person, generally speaking, and I want to be sure you get exactly what I am describing. The Orvis Safe Passage Case is pictured. As well, and will hold the rod when rigged up with reel and line for use at a moment's notice. There is slight fading consistent with its age, but the zipper works smoothly and perfectly, the interior pockets are tight and clean, and there are no gouges, rips, tears, snags, or mechanical problems of any sort. You are viewing an Orvis Trident 9 Foot 3 1/4 oz. Line No. 5 Fly Fishing Rod. It is used but I'm not sure it was ever used. It had belonged to an elderly family member and I have had it packed away for about a year. It is in its original sock and in a had maroon case. Orvis Access 5 weight fly fishing rod 9 ft
Up for Auction is an Orvis Access 9' 5 weight Mid flex rod. These are an excellent all around rod. As you can see this rod comes in slightly used condition. It was purchased new in September. The most outstanding flaw is the the rod tube handle strap is broken on one side and has been reinforced with tape.
