The reel is in its original condition as I found it. There are a few scuff/scratch marks on the reel. But nothing major like dents or cracks. This is a NO RESERVE auction for 1 Pflueger Medalist 1595 RC Reel with 3 Spools and one 1/2 Spool. It is all used and all seems to be in excellent condition. There are some signs of wear on the reel. The reel does have obvious finish w ear as seen in the photos. Body has finish wear as seen. The foot is in pretty good shape as well as the line guide. It does have sculpted pillars with finish wear to them. The spools do have finish wear and issues to the medallions and cranks. The medallion on the spare shown in the photo is cracked and warped. The spool shown on the reel has a warped medallion and the handle is cracked. The reel does work well. Cranks true and even with a nice click and the drag works well with a nice variable range and both spools do work but the have cosmet ic issues. If you intend to use the reel I would certainly suggest to change both handles ... moreand medallions on both spools. Pflueger Medalist No.1496 Fly Reel Right hand wind(I believe there was no other choice back then) Smooth. Adjustable(operating) drag. This is a very early model with the round"Diamolite" line guard, oval spool pillars and amber handle. Only very minor blemishes on this reel. The most wonderful, classic fly reel click sound you've ever heard; slow, soft click- a subdued sound like that of train wheels on a distant track" from Fly Reels Of The Past- John Orrelle) This is a fine. Perfectly functioning example of the most classic of American fly reels. I would say this reel is a 9/10

This is a patent pending version as opposed to the patented later models. This is the 1931"no line guard" model. By 1937 it became a patented model. Offered at no reserve. The reel is in very good condition with nice black finish and vivid graphics. The only cosmetic concern is minor wear to the stainless strip on the front of the spool. Other than this the reel is clean. The reel comes loaded with line of an unknown weight. This is a nice reel that is suitable for fishing or adding to a vintage tackle collection.
