Up for Auction: Ross Gunnison G-2 Fly Reel with Spare Spool! Pre 98 Series- Line Weights 4-6- Both are Used. But in Good Condition This Ross Gunnison G-2 fly reel and spare spool were used as a demo reel at our fly shop. The reel/spool was only used on rods that customers would cast in our parking lot to test out new fly rods. The reel and spool have had a bit of use. But are in good condition overall and still have a lot of miles left on them as they are simply a bulletproof design. This is a pre-98 frame and spool. They were manufactured by Ross between 1995 and 1998. The reel has a brown Drag Disk and teardrop Clicker as well as no screws on the bottom of the spool. The Frame and Spool are bright black and have six large holes in the main reel face- see pictures(whereas the post-98 had multiple holes) The last four pictures are of the ... morespare spool. There are some minor scratches to be found on both the reel and spool(see pictures) particularly around the edges. They are both. However, structurally and functionally sound. The reel comes loaded with roughly 100 yards of 20# backing and a Scientific Anglers WF-4-F demo fly line that is still in decent condition. The spare spool also comes loaded with 100 yards of 20# backing and a weight forward fly line of an unknown weight that is in fair condition. The line on this spare spool has minimal life left in it and could be easily replaced if needed. Both the reel and spool set to left-hand retrieve. The Gunnison reel series were a famous reel in it's day and has recently been reintroduced by Ross as a limited edition. This classic pre-98 reel and spool are still beloved among anglers and bulletproof. The reel seat is the now discontinued Struble D-20 downlocking in darkened nickel silver with a gorgeous amboyna wood insert. The cork handle is a flor-grade REC 6 1/2" with a Struble stepped dark nickel silver winding check. Rounding out the components, the rod has a darkened nickel stainless steel hook-keeper, one#12 Fuji Titanium stripping guide with SiC insert, 9 Snake Brand darkened nickel stainless snake guides and matching Snake Brand tip-top. Here for your consideration is a Ross Evolution LT 1.5 fly reel in used. But excellent condition. The reel is black and comes loaded with 20 lb yellow hi-vis backing and a Rio Gold WF3F fly line that has only been fished once. The reel has a rub or two, but no scratches, marks or chips in the finish and it works perfectly. The fly line is in near perfect condition, with no cuts or cracks- it is like new with the exception of an indentation in the welded loop from a leader being previously installed. The reel is designed for 3-5 weight fly lines(WF4 +65 yds 20 lb backing) The original Ross neoprene reel case is included, but I do not have the box. Retail value for this combo when new was $350.
