It has been at least 40 years since I used a fly rod and have never had the privledge of using one of this quality, so most of the information I am providing came from reading right off the equipment or from on-line research. The RPLB designation indicates that this was a Sage blank that was custom wrapped. It appears to me that the wrapping was done beautifully. There are virtually no signs of use or wear on this equipment. A name we all know, but is manufactured in Japan(reel) and Scotland(rod) The rod is 8’6” in length and breaks down into 2 pieces. The condition of the rod is fair. The reel seat is in good shape as is the cork(has a few pockets) but the finish is where I would use the“fair” term. There are some water marks here and there and some scratches present throughout the rod. I see some chipping in one small spot on the rod. All of this is not significant to the performance of the rod just more of an eye soar. I did take this rod out back and it cast very well. I would call it a med/fast action rod.
