Sage RPLX 889 Saltwater Graphite III Fly Rod 8'9" for 8 wt (Bass & Bonefish)
Factory built Sage 889 RPLX Graphite Fly Rod in good condition.8'9" 2 piece rod for a 8 weight line. This model was called the Bass& Bonefish. This is a factory built rod that has had some professionally done upgrades. The reel seat and cork have been replaced. The full wells cork is very good quality and has not seen much use. I would say the cork is slightly larger diameter than the original. The reel seat is a very nice uplock model that I would say is better quality that the original seat that came with this rod. One of the stripper guides has also been replaced. It is a pretty good match but has a slightly different color ring. Tip is correct length. The Blank still has a nice shine with and is clean no dings or marks. There is some very slight saltwater corrosion on a few of the guide feet. Rod comes with bag pictured no ... moretube.

Just in time for bass season! This rod comes from a collection that I am selling right now. Of a guy that has so much gear, that he has me purge a bunch of items once a year. Great Sage Z-Axis 490(9 foot fly rod for 4 wt. line) 2 piece that has the very tip broken off. The rod was given to me a few years ago. I believe it was a demo rod from a shop in Montana, therefore it has no warranty. i think Sage will repair these rods without warranty for $100 or so. A guy(or gal) could epoxy on a new tip-top guide and the rod would probably cast just fine. I haven't got much use for the rod these days and could use a few bucks to help fund the next fishing trip. The cork grip displays some staining from previous handling, and there are a few noteworthy chips, minor gouges, and bit of missing fill to be noted(see pics) While not as bright or as shiny as it once was new, the up-locking anodized aluminum reel seat still looks handsome enough, and functions perfectly too. A close inspection of the rod's glossy blank from tip to butt reveals the expected small usage marks in the typical high traffic areas. But otherwise shows no signs of catastrophic abuse like deep scratches, scores, or penetrating nicks that would in any way suggest the rod's original strength or integrity as compromised. A close review of the rod's guides confirms a faint trace of tarnish and slight hint of rust present around the ceramic rings and the base of a few guide's feet. Sage Fly Rod - SP 890 - 8wt, 9 foot, 3 piece - gently used
You are viewing/ bidding on a gently used Sage Fly Rod. The model is the SP line of rods which were developed in the late 1990's as a crossover rod for heavy trout/salmon to saltwater. The rod is the 890 model. Which is 9 foot, 3 piece, for an 8 wt. line. This rod is in near perfect condition with one small nick in the cork from casting with a ring on my finger. The pictures show this chip in the front of the cork handle. This can be easily smoothed out if desired. The rod was use twice; once as a salmon rod in Canada, and once as a bonefish rod in the Bahamas. It casts the line with power and precision. It is a delight to cast. It balances very nicely with any 8-9 wt reel. It will easily handle a 9 wt line. The rod has it's original cloth bag and aluminum tube.
